I think Doyle’s weaknesses were even acknowledged by the management when he signed weren’t they? He basically needs to demonstrate he can compete for high balls and in physical battles against men. We know he’s good in possesion, but how does he do against a League One, £900 a week, 6ft 2in shithouse striker?
He handled a £10k a week one not a bother on Saturday and still had change!

Definitely looks the case from the weekend. Lost a few headers first 15/20 mins especially but improved in that area as the game went on and imagine that will come with real game experience. He was faultless in possession really. Teams will look at it and try and not let him bring it out of defence you would think.

Covered Dan Neil quite a bit as well.
Long season ahead, still reckon we need another CB unless we winging it hoping big Shema gets fit and steps up

Judging by the reactions I’ve had some won’t want to digest it, but the likes of AFC Wimbledon or Accrington will try and test him physically, elbows and knees at corners and set pieces etc

Definitely. As always on here someone is either the next best thing or is written off as shite. I thought he was very good at the weekend, especially for his first professional league game. Very calm on the ball and a top passing range, but he lost a few headers easily first half and a couple of times he got caught out of position after diving in (one I can clearly remember is over on the east stand touchline 1st half) if they score from that then the SMB would have him written off as shite and nowhere near ready

Will depend if Wright stays. I think Doyle, Flanagan, Wright and Younger with Xhemalji to come back is enough really. Can question the quality, but one would have to leave for us to bring one in I think.

Evans after about 10 minutes goes up to Doyle and has a few words with him....After that Doyle had Wyke sussed and Onions kept on him too..

The collective fanbase on here work on a binary ecstasy/agony scale it seems.

All relative same tactics.
Physically he is ok, all about the heart.
Sando wasnt very big physically, tall, but not big but he handled it.
Give Doyle a few sessions at the Paul Butler and John McPhail School of excellence he will be ok ;)

Aye, all I’m saying is, he is 17 and a million miles away from the finished article, there are going to be times this season when he doesn’t shine and as a fanbase it would be nice if we were prepared for that inevitability. He is going to get bested, shithoused, perhaps score an own goal etc The point is that he is learning and we should be realistic about what he is at this moment in time.

Doyle has huge potential, yes he will make errors at times but all of our players will. The team around him need to cover him and vice versa.

Tell you what he has a great calmness about him and he is very smart in terms of looking around him, he looks to have time a rare commodity, the lad is going to be a great player.

Very happy he plays for us for now.

The big test will be how he handles pressure at his age. So far he hasn't been tested but undoubtedly it will come
He seems very calm and self assured so hopefully he.can maintain that when things heat up. Obviously the more experience and steady heads we can get around him the better it will be.
