Denayer - there's nothing to do in Sunderland

We have player liaison officers - who do help the players settle into the area, however, that may just be for players who sign permanently. Thankfully Denayer wasn't one of those.

Still in our best interests to make him enjoy his time here surely? For the loan spell abd in case we try to sign him....or any other loanee.

Sunderland is not like London or Manchester where you can have a great time every day providing you have money. We don't have the wealth of cultural and entertainment activities. It does have other things to offer which depend on a much more community oriented experience and being made to feel part of the region.

Arca is a good example of a player who made the region his home and loads of others, such as Schwarz and Edwards recently, mention how special it is.

So basically the problems with him.

Not especially, he's moving on.

We're still a club in a fairly, on the face of it, unattractive part of the UK. It's in our interests to promote the positive aspects of living in the NE and make sure players enjoy it while they're here. Him getting in the press talking about how Sunderland is a shithole and there's nowt to do won't help our already problematic recruitment.

That's his problem and its a great place to live. We don't need characters like him and Moyes around the club.

It's all well and good you thinking that, but it's not a widely held view. We may not miss Denayer but we do need players to come here and perpetuation of our rep as a shit place to live from their colleagues making it into the national press doesn't help.

Say we try to sign a youngster on loan from city and they ask him what it was like, "it's f***ing shit, don't bother" won't help us.

Massively over-rated. He was a complete let down here. Although Moyes won't have helped his cause.

His comments are the perfect example of why it is pointless to sign lads like him.

He has no interest in playing for us, and gets hacked off by a lack of shops, knob end.

He was as casual as fuck, another stroller like most we signed last year.

Am I missing something here, as he doesn't mention there being nothing to do in Sunderland in that article?

He was also f***ing shit so, good riddance.

Has talent but never the type to use it for us.

Compare him to a lad like Rose, massive difference in attitude.

What could we have done to appease the prick? Pay for trips to Milan and St Trop every Monday?

We've done the very best thing we can to attract young players on loan, help progress the careers of lads who are prepared to work hard to build a reputation in the game like Rose, Welbeck, Evans and Alonso. Fuck the slackers, they'll blame everyone for their own failings and badmouth anyone whatever you do for them.
