What’s wrong with running things on a shoe string? Do you want to rack up £130m debt again, I don’t tbh. Neil is a greedy fucker and left of his own volition, we’ve had the third highest net spend in the League. Idk what you want tbh so I’ll leave jt
And why can’t we have the middle way, managed correctly but with the ability to have a budget to push us towards the premer league, or have you not considered the amount of money getting back there is going to take and then the amount to stay up… ambition is it a dirty word for you ?

There is plenty of scope between spending millions on the likes of Rodwell and on the other hand trying to run a club without a ticket office or shop

And trying to hold on to a successful manager on a short term League 1 based contract is a recipe for failure

Club is being badly run
Go and bitch about the club shop and ticket office elsewhere. I don’t give a fuck. I haven’t bought a ticket not online for about 8 years, it’s 2022.
Also, he had 12 month contracts at Erm Norwich and Erm Preston. Lee Johnson didn’t at Sunderland under the same regime. Wonder what the common denominator is here.

So you thought we’d go League One to the Premier League in a year?? Jesus………..I’d say we have perused the middle way, not chucking reckless money and developing youth, all behind that. And third highest net spend in the Champ

There are two sides to any negotiation and everybody has their price

If we wanted more security with AN contract a well run club would have negotiated it

Not risk having their manager poached during the transfer window at the start of the season

Club is being badly run

We offered a new one in the summer and he said no. Has it ever occurred to you that the key point in all this is the manager doesn’t want to be here and has fucked us over? He wanted a 12 month deal so he could fuck off. What would you have done in Feb 2022? Refused this and ended up with Mike Dodd til till end of season. If the club is being so badly ran why have we signed good players, been promoted and sat 5th?

In total I expected 10 years, what I didn’t expect was 4 years in league one, I originally I had hoped, we would be fighting for the championship play offs, after all it’s been 5 years since we got relegated from the prem, how long do you see it going ?

Neil asked for that contract.

The club is making mistakes off the pitch but Neil has put himself first here and it’s all to easy to blame the club for it.

Because there is a big difference between offering a new contract and successfully negotiating one

Keeping hold of AN (and LND) are vital for the club

Neither contract has been put in place

Club is being badly run

Can’t negotiate with people that don’t want to be there

No idea. I just want to see year on year improvement. I’m happy with the current approach, the aim this year is 17th or so and I’d say this squad is well on course

Find out in May if that is the case with the next person whomever it maybe.

Look the choice is not only between

A - pay journeymen mega millions over what they are worth and run up colossal debts while plummeting through the leagues

Or

B - run everything on a shoe string with key players and managers on short contracts, ticket office and shop closed, buying 18 year old wingers from Costa Rica when we need experienced defensive cover

We could have avoided losing AN by simply renegotiating his contract after promotion
I agree parts of the club are being badly run, but the transfer side has been good. Defensive cover was on it's way. We were signing a centre half who won a Championship teams' player of the season last year. This was after getting Ballard from Arsenal ahead of Burnley, Millwall and Blackpool.

The key players are all tied up under contract until the end of next season, Ross Stewart deserves a new deal but we have the option of an extra year should we need it.

I cannot see what Neil can complain about, he's taken a sideways move to a club who aren't allowed to spend a transfer fee and are starting a 40 year old in defence.

It’s a smokescreen.

He was happy with the setup last month and even if he wasn’t, why wait til now to leave?

Fuck all to do with being backed and all to do with cash.

Its not Neil who is complaining here

But me - about the state of our club being run on a shoestring without ambition by a bunch of chancers

Let’s see what happens next but I am NOT optimistic about recruiting a better manager than AN at this point

We can't go wild financially anyway, even if KLD wanted to, FFP is a reality in the Championship. So the best way to be ambitious is to sign younger players before they reach their potential and use the academy.

I'm also not optimistic about the 2nd part, Neil was fantastic here, only lost 2 league games and we were down to 10 men in 1 of them. He seemed like the perfect man for the job, just a shame he didn't want it.

His plan would have been to make sure he could leave if we actually turned out to be the clusterfuck we looked like from the outside. At the time nobody even knew who owned the club.

He's left to get more money. Nowt to do with the board or how the club is ran. That's why he wanted such a loose contract - so we had no control over him. It's blatent.

He has said, and will say that it's due to the club not backing him. They clearly have. He used the same excuse when he left Hamilton, and same excuse when he left Preston. He also said that he didn't feel Norwich backed him enough after he was sacked from Norwich. Wonder what he'll say when he leaves Stoke (who are very restricted in their spending due to FFP).

Played us like a fiddle. This one isn't the top brass' fault.

I'm not overly confident on them appointing a new head coach in an efficient manor mind, but it would be unfair to blame them for that yet.

Not wild, but they could do a little bit more if they wanted too.
