Sick of seeing people defend and refer to “the club” as a collective as if speaking against what happens is being detrimental to or against SAFC as a whole. “The Club” have owners, directors and senior management who are responsible for decision making and funding commitments. When you defend “the club” you defend them. You defend Donald, Sartori, Davison and KLD. That’s defending “the club”.

I’m f***ing pissed off with Neil that he saw fit to drive to Stoke the day before we play but I’m more pissed off with why he made that decision and what drove him to do it.
Maybe he just wanted to be closer to his family and more money but we’ve not seen the interview to confirm that.

We now do not have a manager - having allowed our most successful manager in recent times to be poached

Lets wait and see who we sign in this window - but I have very little confidence that the current way the club is being run will attract the quality of player needed

And there is a risk we will lose some players and end up a weaker team.

How did we allow it !!! Neil in he’s last 3 jobs including us has had the same contract a rolling 12 month deal what does that tell you it’s he’s choice

Why do you have no confidence when this team has brought in Ballard cirkin Clarke Stewart simms roberts Pritchard ??

If we wanted to keep him we would have negotiated putting him on a longer contract on higher pay.

The players you cite are simply not enough to cope with the demands of Championship football - to repeat we have two strikers, nobody winning the ball in midfield and at the back with Ballard’s injury now threadbare.

And days until the window shuts

A lot can happen in days in football 4-5 players will come in they will be very good players aswell going off recent transfers

Like mentioned Neil’s choice is a rolling 12
Months contract not the clubs look at he’s history

Just because he had contracts like that in the past does not preclude getting him onto a longer contract.

Let’s see what contract he ends up with at Stoke.

Perhaps AN thought Preston NE and Sunderland could not match his ambitions to manage at the highest level and therefore wanted to keep his options open?

surely it strongly hints at that ?

alex neil will get the biggest payday of hes career at stoke we all know that why do you think hes leaving ?

and norwich aswell ?? bloke must have very high expectations just to remind you aswell both preston and norwich sacked him

He wanted to go. Easy as owt.

He knew the crack here and has left us in the lurch with 5 days left of the window.

Just another charlatan.
He is a professional football manager, the best we have seen at Sunderland for some years

We were outbid for his services by Stoke City

They were able to do this because we tried to cheese pare by not rewarding him for turning the club round this year by putting him on a longer more lucrative contract

The club is being badly run

Far too easy to blame the club than accept he has cut and run.

He wanted the deal he had and has blamed not being “backed” despite evidence to the contrary.

if we matched the money that stoke offered which would be very very hard hes the best payed manager in the league now do you think he would have stayed ?

Absolutely love the irony of some people on this thread in particular continuing to use the term “the club”. Well done. Can’t blame the club for your stupidity at least.

If we had him in a sensible length of contract Stoke would not have been able to afford the compensation we would have been due and/or it would have put us in as better position to go poach a good manager somewhere else

Club is being badly run

How can you be passed off about something , when you have no idea what motivated Neil.
Pure speculation.

Quick spell check may help there mate. How can you pass off your opinion as fact? 😉

That’s the point I’m making to an extent. Yet people defend Donald and Co as if they are “the club”. They are not. Fuck them. They didn’t do enough to keep him here.

“It’s not the clubs fault” is defending those cretins.

The only cretin in this saga is Neil. I think after 4 years in league one most seem to be relatively happy with what we've done in the market and we still have work to do.

Why defend some fucker thats been here 2 minutes and jumps at the first offer?
