Defending “the club” at every juncture

Exactly this. This is the total point of the thread! “The Club” - the board, the owners, Speakman, Davison etc must take their share of the blame for this situation.
He could have had a 4 year deal, strengthened his squad but as soon as someone came and offered him 3 times his salary he’d be off no matter how much we paid him. That’s why his contract was a rolling one ( at his request ) and it was in his contract that he could speak to other clubs if approached.

I don't see any value in denigrating our club on the basis of Neil's behaviour or speculation.
If the board haven't learned their lessons from Jan and don't appoint a decent manager sharp, then they'll deserve pelters.
Nobody is “denigrating our club”

Just calling out the idiots who seem determined to run it into the ground with short term penny pinching

Obviously if someone offers three times the salary (or millions over the top for a player) we would have to lose people - but let’s not make it easy for people to make mugs of us by not having contracts in place

It’s not a bad thing. That’s the point. Grumpy is inferring that I’m saying that when I’m not yet you’ve went off on one saying I’m shouting him down and portraying him as the victim. He’s not the victim, he’s just bloody hard work sometimes.
I don't feel like a victim. I simply have a different opinion. Both of us believe strongly we're right.

Have a read through this. He clearly says he wants the tools to do the job, hes been harping on for weeks about lack of activity, nothings been happening, weve never offered AN improved terms, stokes came along and hes just said fuck yous, who can blame him?

Don't think your giving Speakman enough time to be honest. He's what, 3 seasons in now and I'd suggest the players he's brought in have ebeen very good. It wasn't AN who brought the likes of Stewart, Clarke and Cirkin to name a few in.

I think we look to be heading in the right direction on the field. Of course there's been the shit off it, which now looks to be getting rectified after the fans got on the clubs back.

Neil leaving is part of football, its happened to most clubs over the years and it'll no doubt happen to us again at some point.

I just don't think he's the shit show that some are trying to perceive on here, but I guess everyone needs someone to blame.

Cirkin seemed to think highly of AN!

Dennis Cirkin explains how his role has changed under Alex Neil at SAFC

SAFC certainly is a shitshow though - ownership, tickets, club shop, safety, catering, academy, manager... it's not blame so much but someone needs to take responsibly.

Well I ask again, what do you want me to protest about?

More to the point I’m not going to do it because it won’t achieve anything.

No one knows how the players feel as most people on here don’t know any players. Or owners. Or managers.

Let’s just beat Norwich. That’s the most important thing right now.

I suppose most the players will have thought highly of him, just as plenty did of Lee Johnson. Footballers get over it,a change of manager is part and parcel of the sport.

What I was saying is that recruitment has been good overall since he came in 3 seasons ago. Hopefully now we're out of League One, things can improve a bit quicker and with quality additions in the departments mentioned.

Sick of seeing people defend and refer to “the club” as a collective as if speaking against what happens is being detrimental to or against SAFC as a whole. “The Club” have owners, directors and senior management who are responsible for decision making and funding commitments. When you defend “the club” you defend them. You defend Donald, Sartori, Davison and KLD. That’s defending “the club”.

I’m f***ing pissed off with Neil that he saw fit to drive to Stoke the day before we play but I’m more pissed off with why he made that decision and what drove him to do it.
But untill anyone knows the decision behind it I can’t see how anyone can be annoyed with anyone atm.
Everything is rumour.
If we tried to keep him, tried to tie him down to longer contracts , wanted to give him more cash and match stokes offer and he wanted to go for personal reasons, not much you can do.

Being angry at someone without knowing facts is ridiculous

The jury is out, a couple of gems, a few for the future and a canny few turkeys! I suppose that's what to be expected though with for a dysfunctional club.

I'm pissed off with so called supporters blaming the club for everything that goes wrong and feeling so entitled that they feel the club should inform them of every decision it makes.

You've got to remember where we've been in the last 4 year with no money coming in and outgoings that some Championship sides would struggle with nevermind League One.....the academy alone costs between 5-6 million a year to run at cat A standard.

There's still a lot to change at the club and it's going to take time to build it back up in all areas, but I think it's easier to just say we're a dysfunctional club without looking at the bigger picture.

Barnesy and Benno talking sense on the radio here.

The club owed AN a new contract in the summer after successful promotion.

A functional club would have been offering him more more money with longer notice on both sides - to protect our and AN’s position.

Looks like Tony Mowbray will come in as a safe pair of hands - let’s hope the club learn from this.

Im not holding my breath though.
“You’ve got the crown jewels and you’ve left the door open”

Just about sums it up
