Despite repeatedly being proven to be wrong himselfHe’s not a fan of saying “aye you’re right” is he?
But you inferred we had the same wage bill as we did in league one but with promotion earned pay increases that’s not correct. It is the same contract as one of the clauses would have stated on promotion in said contract that you would get a wage rise.
Clauses. Contracts have clauses.
Don't move your family here, no job.
Sorry for any confusion. A promotion clause that gives a wage rise to a player on a league one contract does not necessarily mean wage parity to a player who is on a championship contract or a player who has took a percentage wage decrease of a Premier League contract due to relegation. But you inferred we had the same wage bill as we did in league one but with promotion earned pay increases that’s not correct.
Because your not right. You can’t just rant your way through a thread and think it makes you right. People have sensible, reasoned points and some of them are correct, you can’t just keep shouting them down. He’s not a fan of saying “aye you’re right” is he?
He’s has form with me. He’s saying things I have not said. I’m pointing out I have not said this.Because your not right. You can’t just rant your way through a thread and think it makes you right. Me fatha used to be like that, thought if shouted loudest and longest in his head he’d be right, Me fatha was a bit of an arsehole.
Seems he is happier being cosy close to family and a bit more money in the short term (and ultimately being another 'decent' championship manager).Stoke’s ceiling will always be lower than ours, whatever way he paints it, it’s not the same
Hear hear, it's like when people say oh you are acting like mags etc.Sick of seeing people defend and refer to “the club” as a collective as if speaking against what happens is being detrimental to or against SAFC as a whole. “The Club” have owners, directors and senior management who are responsible for decision making and funding commitments. When you defend “the club” you defend them. You defend Donald, Sartori, Davison and KLD. That’s defending “the club”.
I’m f***ing pissed off with Neil that he saw fit to drive to Stoke the day before we play but I’m more pissed off with why he made that decision and what drove him to do it.
How can it be said that he hasn’t been backed in the transfer market that’s insane !! We 3rd highest spenders in the league strong chance to finish biggest spenders by the end of the window
Wages O’Neil stoke old manager was payed 3 million last year surely that’s seen as stupid wages
But there's a correct way of doing things. Why could he not wait till Sunday or Monday.I don’t like it but this is correct
His family live less than 1 hour drive from Stoke. Preston itself is 1hr 15 from Stoke. There is always an element of fans that will side with the club no matter what happens.
The club have to take this on the chin this time.
Why on earth would Alex neil leave us for Stoke if there wasn’t something not right behind the scenes??!
His family live near Preston.
It’s no where fuckin near Stoke !!
The clubs can’t be compared in terms of history, fan base and prospects if things are ok.
The club have fucked up here and hopefully it stops at Alex neil and doesn’t lead to more departures
Ok so if we take it that the current model is scout out scientifically the best managers, players currently undervalued and bring them into the clubBecause your not right. For me both parties are guilty here. Alex Neil has known the structure of the club all along so it shouldn't come as a surprise how we conduct transfers etc. Financially the club seem to be prepared to spend on the right players they identify. Who identifies them or has the final say could be a bone of contentment. The timing is f***ing shit and leaves us scrapping about for a new coach who may or may not fancy the players assembled.
This whole contract situation is on them for me. If Alex Neil signs a 3year deal with Stoke then you have to ask why he wasn't given that here as soon as promotion was achieved. If he was the driving force behind remaining on that rolling contract, then at that stage in the Summer the alarm bells should have been ringing in the board room that he wasn't committed.
I agree that our wage bill is low in comparison but why is it a bad thing? If we hadn’t won a game yet and were sitting bottom then there’d be a good argument for spending more and bringing in more quality while risking our financial situation slightly. He’s has form with me. He’s saying things I have not said. I’m pointing out I have not said this.
We have a wage bill lower than most in the division. Fact. If you give me a reasoned argument to suggest otherwise then fine. I’d welcome the debate with you.
Totally agree with that. We don't know what happened in the days leading up to yesterday that caused this - but it looks to me that there has been a major disagreement between AN and management that came to a head, quite possibly over recruitment (or lack of it). The truth will out eventually.Sick of seeing people defend and refer to “the club” as a collective as if speaking against what happens is being detrimental to or against SAFC as a whole. “The Club” have owners, directors and senior management who are responsible for decision making and funding commitments. Think you missed my point, I’m arguing that it can be sensible to use the current model and not put ourselves in a financial position we may not be able to sustain.Ok so if we take it that the current model is scout out scientifically the best managers, players currently undervalued and bring them into the club
That way we avoid massive debts threatening the club’s existence
But the question then becomes what do we do when clubs being run unsustainably - like Stoke 365 or Saudi United - come calling if we dont ensure we have contractual protection?
Just hope that we can just continue to unearth talent other clubs miss?
Where does selling off all the talent in the club’s academy fit into this model?
Nobody is suggesting a return to spending millions on deadbeats and players in semi retirement but at the moment the club is going way too far in the opposite direction
Let’s see how we get on with finding another manager as effective and grounded as AN
It’s not a bad thing. That’s the point. Grumpy is inferring that I’m saying that when I’m not yet you’ve went off on one saying I’m shouting him down and portraying him as the victim. He’s not the victim, he’s just bloody hard work sometimes.I agree that our wage bill is low in comparison but why is it a bad thing? If we hadn’t won a game yet and were sitting bottom then there’d be a good argument for spending more and bringing in more quality while risking our financial situation slightly.
As it stands though, sitting 5th and more than holding our own it doesn’t seem to justify the risk.
We might be the third highest spenders (why not highest - we've got a lot of catching up to do) but are they the players AN wanted or Speakman wanted?
The upper management at SAFC just as in the rest of the country have got the whip hand in all things and the decisions they make are not necessarily best for the club or supporters but for the ownership, directors and themselves - I think AN may have been shafted and threatened to resign, they called his bluff and now we look fecked.
