Deer Hunting

Dangerous mindset though. Gamekeepers do it for that reason. Thin the herd, help new plants and trees to grow etc. Shooting them for fun never sat right right me.
There are real problems with the UK herd at the moment as it is bigger than it has ever been, causing real problems for the deer. Birth defects, disease, malnutrition and starvation. Ideally, we wouldn't need to shoot any, but with these problems, the lack of any natural predators (only Golden Eagles have been recorded harrying deer off cliffs and eating them) and the fact that their meat is actually very healthy, low in fat and has a low carbon footprint - then its hard to find a good reason not to shoot some of them, under strict licensing and farming protocols.
