Was listening to burn on the way into uni, obviously not gillan but can only fit so much on my ipod.

Gerrin though great lad
Tut, whey get a 'bigger' one then!

I have In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head, Who Do We Think We Are?, Made in Japan, Burn and Stormbringer on mine. ;)

And of course Rainbow's Down To Earth featuring a massive lads fan.

@gabbiadini1 do you know the (Mandrake) root cause behind this ongoing feud? I've wondered for years.
I'm not 100% sure. Think it's a personality clash for sure. I know Gillan just got sick of his antics. Especially when he used to disappear before the encores etc and cause riots on more than 1 occasion!
I do know that he absolutely despises him, even now!

I work for deep purple. Playing a show in oulu Finland tonight. They play a song called 'hell to pay'. Ian Gillan (singer) just introduced it by saying "lock up your horses, there's gonna be hell to pay"!
Sitting here pissing myself!
The keyboard players a massive lads fan y'nar.
If it gets up on you tube in the next few days ill hoy it up here.
Made an amazing day even better :D:cool:

Just read it in the Mirror!

"No Escape For Toon Fans"

would he know you as piston, or.....? If not, PM me and i'll pass it on to don who can pass it on etc
Gig was great btw!
Blows my mind that we do 150 plus shows a year, and always sold out. Amazing. By the way, check out the latest purple album 'Now what'. Its a corker

Thanks for posting this. Me and my brother were at the gig in Glasgow 13 October. Great gig and you are right, the album is a corker. I just love "Hell to Pay" and even more so now :D

Loved this one as well

Is this Joe Kinnear's work?

So farewell then, Yohan Kebab. The departure of Newcastle's best player has seen this T-shirt reduced to only £5 in the St James' souvenir shop. Now sceptical fans are wondering whether Joe Kinnear had a hand in the design, as Cabaye wore No.4 rather than 6 for the Toon.

Saw an interview just the other day with Gillan who was saying how much better the band were without Blackmore and they cut to Blackmore who said he wanted to attack Gillan and beat him up.

Seems they still aren't best of mates. Mind I reckon Gillan would take him out fairly easily even though he seems to be the more easy going/friendly bloke.

I reckon Blackmore would cast a spell on him though. Be like Darth Vader vs the Emperor, Gillan would tackle him no bother but Blackmore would be shooting lightening off at him

Hoo Gabbas. What's the chances of them touring over in Australia? Well, Perth to be more specific!! I'll be first in the queue for tickets if they do like!!

He can say what he wants but I'll still have zero interest in them without Blackmore.

I know what your saying but it must have been a pain dealing with his tantrums all the time. The band were disappearing fast and couldn't sell tickets because of Blackmore's behaviour. Cozy Powell quit Rainbow because Blackmore spent an entire playing with back to the audience.

Have you seen the footage for Birmingham 92 (?). Blackmore doesn't appear on stage for the first song until his solo, which he quickly stops to chuck water over the camerman which also covered Glover's wife apparently.

I can see how people say they need an edge but Blackmore put that band through the ringer so many times.[DOUBLEPOST=1391451057][/DOUBLEPOST]

WDWTWA is terrible bar Woman From Tokyo which is a great song. Love Fireball which is my fave Gillan album. Love side 1 of In Rock and MH is pretty good.

Perfect Strangers is a good album as well.

Two other favourite bands of mine posted on this thread.

Thin Lizzy - Lynott, Gorham, Robertson, Downey.....Simply fantastic live and my favourite band as a kid.

Black Sabbath - Actually preferred Dio on the vocals. Ward, Butler and Iommi.
Rifts and vocals that just needed to be turned up louder and louder.

Cozy Powell though as mentioned earlier was one terrific lad.
Used to have a kick around in the park with us.
He mentions Swindon Town on one of his albums if memory serves me correctly.
He used to have a white Alsatian.
Another story was my Labrador once walked across his new laid wet concrete floor on his garage. Me trying to shout her off without making him come to the door and then looking at these perfect paw prints left behind.
Happy Days.

Other less know great bands:
Budgie.
Preying Mantis
Diamond Head.

As someone posted earlier, football, Rock music and throw in Barbel fishing and you have my life :) :)

totally love this thread - absolutely amazed there are lads on here teching for DP and who grew up knocking around with some of my favourite bands.

you think you know a forum...

absolutely love DP, and have a massive soft spot for the coverdale records. someone earlier made a bit of a dismissive remark about his cock rock stuff later in his career but whitesnake were a phemomenal blues rock band for many a year prior to the hairspray years. and even then - 1987 is a bloody great record (that i believe don airey actually played on).

i play in a couple of bands; one day in the van on the way to a gig we did the rock family tree/6 degrees of separation thing and i connected to don airey, which i was pretty pleased about, as he connected me to sabbath/purple/tull/dio just about every other 70s rock band!
