Gillian, Glover, Blackmore, Pace and Lord.

.... But for the record ex Rainbow drummer lived in my village and used to watch us lads play football.
Massive Swindon fan, sadly met his death in a car crash on the M4.

Listening to Made In Japan now. Class!!

The Blackmore guitar solo in Highway Star gets me every time.
Just had Highway Star on. Don't make them like that anymore. Love Lordy (RIP) on those keys, and the power of Paice on the drums. Wow!

Can't and would not touch Rush, simply the best band ever made :)[DOUBLEPOST=1391288951][/DOUBLEPOST]

That was Cozy Powell.

little known musical fact, the band had played the Mecca and were having a post gig pint in the Smugglers when Richie Blackmore tossed a still lit tab into the sea and just before it fizzled out they got the inspiration for smoke on the water
:lol:Tell Ian I'm asking after 'im Gabbs1. Saw them at City Hall in '72, Nazareth were supporting them.
I was five rows back from the front....he's bound to remember me.

Geddy was always a bit high pitched for me like but great band all the same.

Wadda ya mean 'Was' ? He's not deed ya knaa.
Rush completed the Clockworld Angels tour of North America last August, 37 dates, average attendance 10,000. Pretty much a sell out tour.
Oh, and his pitch is just fine marra.

Figure of speech man... I was referring to the days when I used to go and see all those bands. Glad they're still out there. Nowt wrong with his pitch musically, just a bit high for me.

I think he'd be the first to admit he's no Ian Gillan, but Ian can't play bass like him.

I work for deep purple. Playing a show in oulu Finland tonight. They play a song called 'hell to pay'. Ian Gillan (singer) just introduced it by saying "lock up your horses, there's gonna be hell to pay"!
Sitting here pissing myself!
The keyboard players a massive lads fan y'nar.
If it gets up on you tube in the next few days ill hoy it up here.
Made an amazing day even better :D:cool:

Do you know Rob (who works for BA)?

Great bassist and singer, great songs, just never really took to them as a band, but great to know that they are still out there doing it all the same.

For some reason I couldn't get to Roker for the 5th round replay against Man City in 1973 so I went to see Deep Purple at the City Hall that same night. Ian Gillan came back on stage for the encore and said he wanted to read out a local football score. I of course jumped up with arms aloft, then remembered I was in Newcastle but turned around to see a number of others doing the same. Great concert but not as great as the game from what I have read and seen over the years.

Same here, remember a huge roar going up when he announced the score, must have been half the audience red and white.
