decking boards ,groove side down now ?

Relaying new deckingboards next week (is nordstroms still the best place for the boards?)
but i've spoke to a couple of tradesmen who are now putting the groove side down and smooth side up , the groove sides are for air ventalation ? as for been slippy when wet they say their is no difference what way ,what do the wise smb say ??

I’ve seen more hardwood decking laid like that than softwood tanalised.

Its on the UK that turned the boards ridge-side up when fitting decking. I could never understand why people wanted uncomfortable wood that allows water to sit on it for hours/days at a time.

Yes, the ridges are actually to encourage air to move along the lengths of the boards to keep them dry and make them last longer.

I'm getting a load of decking done next month, and I'll be having them groves down for certain.

Place down debtford was the cheapest when I hoyed a bit down last year.

Grooves down, I've worked loads in Bergen, Norway which is the wettest city in Europe and decking is always laid with the grooves down, it's less slippy in snow anarl.

'being' slippy - not 'been'.

Grooves down.
