Death doesn't mean the end of a life sentence

Interesting little story this one. Prisoner in the US on a life sentence 'dies' in hospital when his heart stops, then after being resuscitated puts in a legal challenge to be released on the grounds that as he died, his life sentence had been completed.

Nice try, mate.

The thing is, if you die it means deceased. You cease to live.
The fact that his heart stopped clearly does not mean his brain stopped functioning, otherwise his heart would not be able to be restarted.
This means he is not deceased and could almost be cast into the realm of being in a sort of hibernation mode.
