DCL Promotion

Depends what DCL want to do. They want rid of uneven number of clubs? So may take one with no relegation or two with relegation. Could benefit struggling DCL 2 clubs to rebuild.
I think there needs to be a team relegated. Wouldn't be fair on the NEDCL to promote one team and not have a replacement.

Not sure what the thoughts are at Hunwick. But their ground, facilities, players and junior teams would be an asset to the DCL.
Not sure how DCL intend to reorganize this year. But will need to wait and see if they would just accept a team or have relegation.

Our 2nds beat Beamish by about 250 runs. Credit to Beamish for turning up with 9 lads and obviously our 1sts beat Beamish to be crowned league champions. Cue celebrations that are still ongoing in our local!

Think this might be the season that we choose to go up but we'll see at our AGM. Think there is a lot of support for it amongst the players.

From a 2nd team POV Im worried by how weak the 2nd division is becoming. We have a strong junior setup and we dont want them to miss out on the ever growing number of weekends that will / might be free because of the lack of 2nd teams e.g. Coundon, Beamish, Tantobie, Belmont etc...?

Just heard Leadgate are looking to apply to the DCL. So possibly they would fill the Houghton vacancy. With Hunwick promoted as champions and Boldon CA relegated in to the NEDCL.

Where have you heard that regarding Leadgate?
It will be either or Silksworth who are currently bottom or Boldon CA who will be relegated

Wouldn't bank on Boldon or Silksworth being relegated as I'm almost 99.9% certain that those teams were told at start of year that there'll be no relation due to houghton demise. The clubs in question specially have stated this as the reason for not engaging overseas in several occasions over this year.

If they have been told that in any capacity by league then there's not a chance the league would be able to relegate them without an almighty uproar.

As someone pointed out if leadgte were to come over to this side of pyramid would they not have to start at bottom? I.e. NEDCL or are NEDCL still not a fully fledged member as they didn't want to be governed by league cricket conference? That may have changed mind so be good to know current state of play.

Lots of grey areas and no freely available docs to confirm to anyone so very much just hearsay.

NEDCL are as of this season full members. With promotion and relegation. Which should take place, however it does look like as the bottom league it will be driven out of existence by the desire of the DCL to have even numbers. I would think Leadgate would move across at the same level of the pyramid? But as you say until play offs etc are sorted we won't know.

Depending on the outcome of our AGM (and whether we choose to go up to the DCL), paying a professional is just one of the many new experiences that we'll have to deal with as a club. Luckily we have a fair few lads that have played at a higher level so their expertise will be invaluable.

I'm sure we might even reach out to a few member clubs e.g. Littletown, to ask for their advice too.
