David Moyes

I thought this would end in happy years, but clearly it's a load of shit. What a shame.

Peter Reid is pretending he knows what the craic is -fuck me , I'll be the first jumpee from the new bridge.

We are so shit.

I like him. Then again I liked O'Neill too so what the fuck do I know, still think he was the best manager we've had since Bruce, stats show too. Our expectations were just much higher back then
Not having this like, he has been a disaster

Mate. Just fuck off. Your Moyes little smillie crew have left you hanging.

This manager has ruined everything positive from last season. Every drop. He has achieved nowt. Signed a full team of players. We are bottom. Every game I go to I expect us to lose.

He is f***ing shit.

Harsh, but if I am honest, is probably what I feel.

Our owner is a billionaire, if he wanted it enough we could win the league and hire Guardiola. He can afford it, he just doesn't want to.

In theory I guess, but how long can he personally finance it.

I actually don't mind us trying to sort the club out from top to bottom, it needed doing, I just don't think we picked the right manager to oversee it. We needed someone hungrier and forward thinking. Not justification for signing all his ex-mates.

We have 10% of the components of a decent side...which manager is stupid enough to try?

Swansea and Hull have more in their squads than we do. Wasted finance and piss poor recruitment.

As much as Moyes angers me, no one can get a tune out of a mouldy stick.

He signed a whole team of players though didn't he?

Correct. That's cos our players ran their arses off. That can't be maintained for ninety and better players finally work things out. It's what usually happens in football.

I agree we were good in the first half, as good as we could be. But why didn't we change it earlier. Was watching on holiday and the commentators (didn't recognise the voice) couldn't believe we were not bringing fresh legs on to keep pressing. I just feel he is always one step behind, never proactive.

Seriously though, I think we need a firebrand type character. The problem is though if it works it would just be another stay of execution. The other alternative is to promote from within. Bladder Bracewell along with Moyes and give it to..... fuck nars.

@prehab26 has given the job to me. It shows how clued up I am. ;)

I agree, but long term, I've accepted relegation, it happens, we had a good run. I just don't see Moyes having the force of personality to get some energy in the club and turn around.

Agree with all of that except that we are relegated ,we still have most of the teams around us to play yet . Not that I think that Moyes has the ability to get 6 more wins ,there is still hope.

Yeah true, lets see after the Burnley game, hope you are right.

One last point, everybody goes on about how bad the team is, and how Moyes has his hands tied, true to an extent. But look at the team Dick stayed up with, was that any better? I don't think it was personally.

I can't find any reasonable excuse for how badly Moyes is performing . Never a fan of his even in his Everton days but thought he was a steady pair of hands to carry on the good work Sam had started .
How could I be so wrong ,he's been a disaster, even allowing for the injuries we've had ,all the good feeling around the club at the end of last season has evaporated.

He's been an absolute disaster, shite in the transfer market and just so incredibly dour that its painful

Even in my worst nightmares i did not think he would be this shit

Kirchhoff has only played 5 games this season and with the injuries we had and players we lost its hard to say if Allardyce would have continued with 4-1-4-1or if 4-2-3-1 would have been better.
But playing in a defensive 2 isn't that different to what he was doing anyway. One of those 2 makes the team tick the other is box to box.

Sam normally plays the one ahead of the defence or at least has done for a lot of his managerial career. And the roles are massively different - in a two Kirchoff has a lot more defensive responsibility and ground to cover. In the one behind he had two players ahead of him doing most of that, giving him free will to pop up at the right time and use his anticipation, start moves or even drift forward.

The main difference for me was how high up the field we played. Kone and Kaboul allowed us a higher line. Papy as we have established is dreadful at decision making and O'Shea is too slow to play that way.

We mostly didn't under Sam though. We could on occasions push up a touch and be more compact, but on the whole we didn't play further up the pitch.

I don't agree that the wide men are allowed to stay up, both of them have to track back, the midfield 2 are picking up the opposition full back runs, they are there to cover our own full backs pushing on.
At the start of the season individual errors cost us.

We've almost certainly at times this season tried to keep more offensive shape than we were allowed under Allardyce, where it was much more about defensive positioning. Sure the wide players are meant to cover, but there's not as much emphasis on it as under Allardyce.

There is nothing wrong with zonal marking as long as its done properly. Just the same as if man to man is done badly. I do think we have a fairly stupid bunch of players who don't take instructions well at all.

It certainly allows for more simple team errors rather than individual and becomes stupid when it's either not coached properly or taken on board by said players and you continue to make the same mistakes and present the same type of opportunities. Continuing to allow the oppositions strongest headers to run at a weak point usually from deep to near the far post would be much easier to cut out when man marking than in zonal or even in a mixture of the two. Allowing that to happen deep into the season and far too regularly is gross mis management IMO rather than down to individual player mistakes.

He does, he is a very good box to box player.

I don't think he does enough, he had a run of 5 games earlier in the season and did nothing. He's a typical match of the day player, might do something fancy but doesn't really add much to the game overall. His work rate last year was far more important rather than his attacking play. He doesn't create enough. His work rate has totally dropped off and he has been a liability this season when he has the ball in his own half.

I think his ball retention has been poorer, not sure about his work rate. I think he's come on cold in some games and it's hard to just fit straight into the pace of the game rather than he's just not working as hard. He does one thing not many, if any, of our players in our team try to do regularly and that's look up and play a forward ball into space. He also does it with more accuracy and more regularly than anyone else on our books, sure it doesn't come off a high percentage of the time, but that's the nature of being creative when not in a top six team. When we're playing Borini, Januzaj at times and especially Pienaar generally when fit then I'm sorry it's absolute nonsense that the guy has started so few games and played so few minutes. It's almost becoming a bit of a joke his late introduction as if Moyes is making a scapegoat of him.

It seems ridiculous doesn't it. Theres some signs of certain players being able to at least pass the ball, but the options they have are limited.
I still have hope we'll stay up, but I'm also trying to believe that plans are in place for a successful promotion with a proper clear out.
But most importantly I just hope that this post has worked!

Last few seasons I'd wrote them off at this point and then they've turned it around. This season I think I've not wrote them off because of what's gone before it, I do think we're looking far less capable and obviously some of that it due to injuries.

He won't be going anywhere anytime soon
Agreed

Kindly fuck off
You are directing that at ellis?

Chairman Ellis Short said Moyes was the club's 'number one managerial target for the last five appointments'.

Short, speaking after Moyes' appointment, said: 'We are absolutely delighted to welcome David Moyes to Sunderland, who was by far and away our first choice.

'He is a man whose football pedigree speaks for itself and is someone I have long admired. I have spoken with him on many occasions and I have always been hugely impressed. He was my number one managerial target for the last five appointments, but his desire to honour existing contracts meant we were not able to bring him to Sunderland previously. To be able to finally welcome him as our manager is fantastic news for the club.

'The fact that David has committed to a four-year deal is a clear demonstration of his belief in what he can achieve here. It is our aim to become a better, stronger and more stable football club and with a manager of David’s calibre and experience at the helm, we have a fantastic opportunity to begin looking upwards, rather than downwards every season.'
