David Moyes V Sam Allardyce

Both have their faults, Allardyce wasn't pulling up any trees until after Christmas, He continually played Fletcher and Graham upfront whilst not playing Defoe or putting him on the wing, is that the sign of Managerial Genius?
Moyes has persisted with the likes of Rodwell and Pienaar when they're clearly not up to it and made some strange substitutions along the way, they've both stumbled across a winning formula more through luck than judgment. Of the two I probably prefer Moyes given the crooked nature of Sam, I liked him as a character when he was here but he also personifies all that is wrong with football given the subsequent revelations.

12 defeats in 20 vs 12 defeats in 30 seems to be the difference.
and given the much higher win ratio, should have more points per game in 10 games time. Wins are worth far more than draws

Moyes didn't care either when he rejected the chance to manage a struggling Sunderland.
He would walk tomorrow if Southampton offered him a deal, not to mention England.
What gives you the idea he would dump Sunderland for Southampton? Staggering statement. It is not like Moyes meets chairmen behind the backs of current incumbents like BFS

He'd walk tomorrow if we sold Defoe and who would blame him? He even said if he knew the full facts here during the summer he would have thought twice. Didn't he leave Everton to go to Man Utd? I'm not having a pop at Moyes, but people think Moyes or Allardyce should have the same loyalty as we do.

To 7th place finishes and 105 points in Div. 1. We had the best team any of us had seen and we played the best football most have seen. We haven't come close to anything like the Red days.
He was at Everton for a whole decade, left with the blessing of his chairman, had a big send off and took arguably the biggest job in football.

It is not like he was trying to engineer moves to other teams just to make a quick buck

Southampton have a better squad and better owners. They're regular 10 finishers.

If Allardyce is such a terrible manager why are you bothered he's going to Palace and why the need to compare him to Moyes?

Big Sam was good for us and we will should be grateful to him. He was probably the best manager we had to Reidy and it looked like we had finally got the right man. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. A lot of us would love it if he was still our manager but he isn't. And it's kick in the balls to see him go to Palace. Especially seen as we did nothing!

Put God never shuts s door without opening a window. We have Moyes now and he looks like he can turn us around if he is giving the support. I rather just give him the support because he's our manager and stop worrying about about former managers.

It was contemporanious - everyone was talking about Sam, and I noticed the stats as I compared Sams to Pardew's.

Given how unfavourably Moyes has been compared to Sam by many fans seemed quite interesting he has now got an equal win percentage

Got to back your current manager like.

Thing I liked about Big Sam though was he knew exactly how to work it in the transfer marker

For example we could have sold Kone for 20 million in the summer, that is a profit of 15 million in 6 months

Its exactly where we have been going wrong, I think he could have helped the club financially make profits.

Bit unfair like as he took over a team with 2 points from 8 games - absolutely on its knees, Moyes had most of pre-season

Anyway need to move on from this, he's gone, Moyes is here now

That's one way of putting it.

In fairness we went from being unbeaten in 12 games under Allardyce to no wins in 10 under Moyes. We lost a popular manager that everyone wanted to stay. So of course fans were going to compare and feel things would gave been better under Allardyce.

He only left Everton at the end of his contract with them. He told them at the end of the season in May but stayed with them until his contract actually expired at the end of June.

But he felt for a bigger job. If he was offered a top job he'd take it. There's nothing wrong with that. We'd all do the same. Moyes would be more honest and open about that Allardyce about in all fairness.

Moyes achieved far more at Everton

Jury still out on Moyes at SAFC for me. Had some injuries, bad luck and poor squad but we're still in the bottom 3 and had some very poor results. (A couple of good ones as well like)

At the end of his contract. He didn't get into a strop and stop turning up for work at Everton in those last few weeks of his contract, so there's nothing to suggest he'd do so here if there were several years left on his contract with us.

But he would jump at the chance to manager one of the top sides. I'm not having a go at Moyes. I'm just stating how football works.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at the level of support for Moyes on here recently. Bodes well for the future imo.
That's why I don't understand why people need to keep comparing him to Allardyce? Big Sam is gone. David Moyes is here now. It doesn't matter who did what. Just back the man in the hot seat now and forget everyone else.
