One of the DM's has to go, Meyler was very good for a few games. Can't see how he willget into the team tbh ahead of Riveros and Catts
TBH Gards not sure that Riveros has done enough to suggest he will be the answer yet . I know the philosophy is that the South American lads take longer to settle and that he hasn't had a run in the side but games seem to pass him by when he is on.
The one exception to that was apparently Wigan when he was decent but I didn't see it so don't know for sure. I'm not saying he can't or won't cut it, just that I've not seen anything convincing to date and tbh I wasn't overly impressed with him at the World Cup. Still has everything to prove as far as I'm concerned. Meyler is by no means the finished article and none of us know his injury will affect him long term. Time will tell

I think he seems to have got better the longer he has been out with injury.

Yes, he's a canny player with potential but I've read one post saying he's better than Henderson, which I just can't see the logic behind.

The danger for me is if he comes back and is off the pace and has a few poor games the fans that have built him up to be so good when he has been out with injury will start to get on the lads back and that's benefical to no-one.

He's a decent young player with the potential to become a good Premier League midfielder. Lets not get carried away yet lads.

I see your point about him getting better whilst injured in some peoples views, but my view hasnt changed at all. Before his injury he was developing as fast as Henderson and looked a certainty for our central midfield for years to come.

I also dont expect we'll see him return to that form until next season. I hope the usual ones who judge people on one game (Gyan's and Mignolet's doubters) dont get up to their usual tricks.

Meyler has a massive future, and hopefully, because he's Irish, the big 4 won't come knocking in 18 months and that he stays with us.

At the end of last season, Henderson broke through first, and had more games - yet it was Meyler who was really catching my eye.

He was keeping the captain (Cana) out of the team when both were fit - that's the logic.

When was this and thats excellent new

Better than Henderson IMO

From what I saw of the lad last season, I would agree with that. Not saying Henderson is shit of course, but the thought of this lad coming back in and doing well, means we have a good future ahead of us.

While watching the Youths at the Academy of Light yesterday I got talking to our centre half John Egans parents and his mam said that the first team squad were great with the younger players and she said that the payers who particuarly went out of their way to offer advice and encouragment were Jodan Henderson and Davey Meyler.

In his time out injured, Meyler has become better than Henderson, Cattermole and Mohammud I'm Hard Bruce Lee. The plebs on here will be desperate for him to get back in the team, then at the first hint of a mis-placed pass will denounce him as "shite", proclaiming that the injury has "reduced his talent" or "lost his bottle"

Sadly predictable

Bollocks and good to see you bringing something to the debate.

tbf after coming back from being sent off against Pompey in the half a dozen games we saw him in he did look a very good prospect

he was also better than Henderson is those games

will be interesting to see where or if he fits in when getting back to match fitness

I was at the Portsmouth game and felt like waiting outside to give Meyler a slap ......... since then I think he's done really well.
I haven't seen enough to say whether he's better than Jordan but he has the one thing Henderson's lacking.
Meyler has a bit of the devil in him like Roy Keane.

I like owt like that me like ;)
