I reckon the FA Cup game in January will be the first time we see him this season and will give him much needed first team action.

Right, lets put this one to bed early this season;

I will be livid if we play anything other than our BEST side in the FA Cup this season.

We are not and will not be in the relegation shake up. We have a good side who given a fair wind and a decent draw could go a long way in a very prestigious competition.

Have we learned nothing from the West Ham game?

If we have fringe players and bench warmers who need a game then organise some bloody friendlies, or god forbid, play them in a few reserve games instead of some kids. We must take the FA Cup seriously.

I have no problem with Meyler playing in it if he is fully fit and has proven he is worth his place by then. As such I would then expect him to also play in the following league game.

Whilst i agree with what you're saying, surely, you must agree if we played a side like Barrow again in the 3rd round this season, you wouldn't object to giving Meyler an hour to give him some fitness?

Surely the main reason we lost against West Ham is that we didn't freshen up the side sufficiently, and played close to our perceived 'best team'?

Totally right, we have a good squad lets use it. It is very debatable what our best team is, I mean the team seems to have changed from when we played stoke, now zenden and richardson are in centre mid.

He will pick the best team for the game he sees fit.

We would of stuffed west ham if we had mixed it up.

When was this and thats excellent new

Better than Henderson IMO

He impressed as much, but it was only for a few games - not for as long as Jordan. And Henderson has kicked on further from last season.

Looking forward to seeing Meyler play again.

Better than Cattermole is maybe more accurate........... tough, but without the 2 footed tackles........

People need to remember that when Catts came to the club he was outstanding. He was runnig games for us, then he got that horrible injury. I expect Cattermole to carry on improving with games and to say Meyler is better already is a bit daft

One of the DM's has to go, Meyler was very good for a few games. Can't see how he willget into the team tbh ahead of Riveros and Catts

Not sure i agree it is daft.In fact i totally disagree........it is not daft at all. Henderson and Meyler played well together last season. Although i never said he was better.
I am a fan of Cattermole...... check my post history.... i have defended him to the hilt...... a good player with a decent prospect.

What i was trying to say was that, at the time, especially away from home, Meyler was top banana, especially defensively. So he would be more suited to replacing Cattermole, than Henderson.

Brilliant if we can get these prospects in and around the team imho.

Henderson and Meyler did play well together but in the 2nd half v Burnley last year at home the pair of them got over run in the 2nd half. I rate Meyler very highly but just not as highly as Catts at this time.

Very much so in my opinion, was keeping Cana our club captain out of the team last year during his run in the side, and I personally think he will be a great addition back to the squad

Like having a new player

That's exactly what I based my comments on in another thread that he looked better than Henderson until he got the injury.

Either way, its too young midfielders we've got who are very very good. Happy Days.

Meyler looks very promising. I suspect he will go on to have a career as a very solid and dependable Premier League midfield player. I haven't really seen anything to suggest he will go on to anything better than that, but hope I am wrong. People are going well overboard on the back of 10 games, though. So far he has done nothing that Paul Thirlwell didn't do.

You really think Bruce will have the absolute full strength team out if we get the likes of Burton Albion or Tamworth? He'd play a weakend team but one that would still be able to get a strong result - playing the likes of Riveros, Ferdinand, Reid and possibly Angeleri ect.

Of course I agree that if we get a relatively hard game we should play our first 11, thats obvious - everyone knows we could do with a good cup run. I was just on about the 3rd round games which are usually less than competitive.

its good for the lad, and he should be their and their abouts in a few weeks.
Any updates on his progress ?

When are next reserve match

blackpool tuesday.
