I thought Defoe was a better all round player personally. Also played with far poorer players and still had a great goal return. When you bring personalities into it, then it’s not even close.

Bent was excellent but he had the benefit of the team being set up pretty much around him and having some very good footballers in it. We'd gone massively backwards by the time Defoe arrived, were certainly not set up purely to promote his opportunities and he was quite happy to play where he was needed. Both great but Defoe would be my choice.

Bent was a better player for us but in a much better side. Defoe obviously remmebered more fondly by all but on the pitch didn’t do anywhere near as much as Bent tbh.
