He seriously isn't a dreadful footballer. Criticism on here is way OTT.

agreed, hardly any of our current squad performed with any great distinction this season, nevermind coming into the team in January when argubly we were at our lowest ebb with a manager under pressure and the tactics employed being nigh on non existent in any effective way to helping a striker perform his duties.

He's a good lad, he tried hard, but he's just not good enough.

3 mill to Cardiff would be great - he might even be half decent alongside a fit Campbell and will be useful when they're back in the Championship.

About time we learned this lesson. Unless you can absolutely guarantee that a player who is well known to support Newcastle will hit the ground running and keep playing brilliantly in every game for us, don't sign him.

Stupid decision from O'Neill - first signing him when he was half fit and then putting him in a team not designed to go over the half way line. Improved slightly under Paolo but it wasn't enough.

Danny Graham is an average Championship striker, at best. He is nowhere near a Premier striker and it was a colossal mistake of MON to bring him to the SOL. Not because of his Mag links, but because of his SKILL, or the lack of it.

Danny Graham perfectly symbolises the appalling transfer business we have seen for years. Why have we been so shit at this for so long?

Lots of effort, very little quality. This is whats been the fundamental problem of SAFC for the past few years. If he goes, i'll wish him well, always tried his best, just a shame that we will lose money on him.

What did most of us say about not doing any more business for black & white players ? ? ? It doesn't work.

This. Still got dogs abuse from some for pointing it out though. Can't believe anyone still thinks it was 5 million well spent.

Interesting, graham has played better than wickham since signing, yet people stick up for wickham and slag graham off

Who said its not because hes a mag

For me, it was partly because he is a mag. There has been some recent precedents for not signing them. If he was top drawer then fair enough. But he isn't, never was and has done nothing to suggest he should have even been a consideration. Please, no more Mags in future.

The fact he's a mag is largely irrelevant in this, it doesn't back up your argument at all, nor any of the 'precedents' for not signing mags you speak of. It was a huge mistake because of first his quality and secondly because of the type of player he is, it's pretty much the last thing we needed in our current squad.

but his failure at Sunderland is nowt to do with him being a Mag. Nothing at all has happened since he has signed for Sunderland to suggest he is anything but committed to the cause. He has ticked all the boxes in terms of his efforts to the cause and for passion shown when he's had the opportunity. The problem is that he doesn't look like scoring goals or even threatening the oppositions goal mouth. That has absolutely nothing to do with his boyhood allegiances.

Should we apply something similar with a "no more black players" policy because Darren Bent, Titus Bramble, Asamoah Gyan, Milton Nunez and El Hadji Diouf have been either shite, caused problems or left under a cloud of controversy? I wouldnt have thought so. The whole Mag thing is nothing other than small mindedness that we tie ourselves in knots about every now and again.

Our history is littered with players from all different backgrounds and areas with different boyhood allegiances. Some have been shite, some greedy, some a liability and some injury prone but we only ever attribute those negative traits to boyhood allegiances or birthplaces when theyre from Newcastle.
