£4.5 mill?? I'll get my car started

I think there'll be a queue of cars outside the SOL waiting to deliver him to the Riverside.

Mind you, that'll be the same queue of cars that came from Tottenham to dump Younis Kaboul at our door.

You have just raised the same point as I have. It is simply because he is younger, English and haven't had an injury history. Is he a better player than Fletcher? Is he fuck. Will he be sold for a fee that Fletcher went for? Highly doubt it. None of them are perfect but Connor Wickham seriously must do a hell of a lot better. He is not a kid anymore. He is pulling in one of the highest wages over there now. Again, that was because he was out of contract and not performance related. Just need to see far make from him. Use his 13 stone frame for starters. Then maybe think that like a footballer and make a basic decision.
Absolutely spot on.

Well really it's only his second starting, and could well be his first playing in his actual position. People forget he's only a year older than Watmore.

That may well be true but he's been at the club all this time and despite us not setting the goal scoring charts alight, consecutive managers have resisted the temptation to give him a prolonged run in the side ..... failing to impress one manager you could put down to a difference of opinion but he's seemingly failed to convince quite a few.

Fletcher on form is our best forward imo, it's just a shame we don't see him at his best very often.

I think Defoe and Wickham will be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Wickham and defoe have the right mix for making an excellent partnership in my eyes. Wickham hasng been managed properly since being here.

I think fletcher is a shit premiership striker. He lacks too much to be a 1st team player. He also seems like a bit of a tosser which doesnt help being a overpaid footballer

I'm not saying Wickham should have played more but it's worth mentioning they were all sacked for being incompetent...

Wikcham will either become our no 1 striker under dick advocaat's management or be flogged within the year. I reckon he'll end up being 1st name on team sheet if given the chance

there is also the mainly forgotten fact that as a team we have created extremely few chances for our strikers, for nigh on two full seasons we also played a very negative defensive style of play, neither of which is going to allow our strikers to get a good scoring ratio.
i still think if we start to move the ball and get it into the box then fletch and defoe will score enough, DG is a good 'worker' but we cannot rely on him for goals and it has been said many times CW is not the answer until he learns to use his size, he was a 'big lad' amongst the kiddies but he looks lost amongst the adults.
potential will not win us games...potential will not get us safe, imho if we can move danny on and get a decent replacement then CW should be used as a sub when we are winning a game...if that potential fails to shine using him this way rather than out of position then he should be allowed to leave also.

Fed up of people saying "at least he tried"... I'd bloody try, but reality is Graham isn't good enough for us. 4.5 million would be amazing, but would imagine it'd be closer to 2 million - plus promotion add on I'd think!

Also, as much as I don't think Fletcher is good, he'd be better to throw on when we need a goal, least he's scored a couple the last few seasons!

Which kinda is a contradiction in itself, we always needed a goal last season and iirc, he cupped his ears once, then became legend in his own right, or twat one of the 2

I could see a £4.5m transfer fee being bonus related, if they get promoted and he gets a few goals £4.5m would be small beer for Boro given the Premiership TV deal for 2016/17.

He's probably the most criticised player at the club at games and especially on here.

He undoubtedly gets stick but some of it even his biggest fan would concede is justifiable. For a bloke his size he gets knocked around far too easily and his decision making at times drives you mad.

I genuinely hope he comes good but 'potential' is a word that is more often than not in the football world followed or preceded by the word unfulfilled.

At some point there will be a decision made - I think unlike some of his predecessors Advocaat is willing to give Wickham a chance - but now is the time he must deliver.
