Danny Graham to Boro

You have just raised the same point as I have. It is simply because he is younger, English and haven't had an injury history. Is he a better player than Fletcher? Is he fuck. Will he be sold for a fee that Fletcher went for? Highly doubt it. None of them are perfect but Connor Wickham seriously must do a hell of a lot better. He is not a kid anymore. He is pulling in one of the highest wages over there now. Again, that was because he was out of contract and not performance related. Just need to see far make from him. Use his 13 stone frame for starters. Then maybe think that like a footballer and make a basic decision.
He's streets ahead of Fletcher imho.

I'm hearing rumours from Teeside that Middlesbro are looking to sign Danny Graham from Sunderland, having missed out on Patrick Bamford who has gone on loan to Crystal Palace.

Graham is familiar to the Boro faithful having already had a stint at The Riverside.

Graham is likely to cost Boro in the region of £4.5m.
and thats where the fairy tale goes a bit north Korean propaganda believable

4.5m :)

£2 million and I think we'd sell.
£1m and I think we'd sell

Don't see how. Doesn't make intelligent runs, doesn't hold the ball up. Poor in the air etc. if Fletcher is fit this season, he will start over Wickham. Agree, Wickham has physical attributes and looks the part, his lack of footballing intelligence really stands out though.
I honestly don't see Fletcher doing any of those things either though.
Fletcher can't play up front by himself - he's weak, doesn't hold it up and doesn't make any sort of positive impression. He doesn't hold his position, coming deep and trying stupid flicks rather than holding the line.

Wickham has all of the physical and footballing attributes to be a good central striker - however I agree that he lacks an amount of footballing intelligence in that role, but that only comes with experience - playing that position consistently and getting good coaching.

He's been wasted out wide last season - he did a job for the team but did himself few favours.

Before the Downing signing I would have called bullshit. But it looks like Gibson is prepared for a big push.

If it's £4.5 million though, I suspect that would be conditional to them getting promoted.

Personally just don't see it. Wickham into 5th season now? Havnt seen what is required to lead the line for me. Anyway, back on track to thread topic.

Graham, sold? Highly likely. For 4.5m ? Highly unlikely!

Fletchers performance up front on his own against mags away last season was top class and as good as you'll see imo. Just doesn't do it often which is totally frustrating.
