Great to see our players announcing to the world how much they drink and not even waiting to retire first
It probably didn’t sound as bad during a casual chat on the podcast but when it’s written out in full as the Chronicle have done, choosing bits of it, it doesn’t reflect well at all.

that said it’s pretty much what others said on Undr the Cosh. Just a desperate waste of talent and opportunity for all of them. Imagine working so hard to make it in the premier league then just Getting smashed regularly.

I’m on dodgy ground here , because a few of these were proper alcoholics , but when you hear tales of Merson, Moore, Adams, Best , Robson etc and their drinking they still performed at the highest levels . When the players are shite, it’s incredible.
I suppose we were daft enough to employ them and pay them. Hence our reputation for being a soft touch and the old easy final contract . Some of those final contracts went on longer than others of course , ffs .

After reading that PDC has just regained a bit of respect. They sound like a bunch of 16 year olds after first payday. WTF was PDC doing gobbing in the air and letting it land on his head though, mad fucker.

If they had the courage to side with the manager the club would have been in a lot stronger position for the next manager when PdC ultimately and undoubtedly exploded!

I've suspected the same for a while. Once the choice was made to side with the players (rightly or wrongly) a consequence was that it made it obvious player power trumped the manager at Sunderland. New ownership now though.

The names you checked there played in an era (and I include Merson and Adams in that) when football was less athletic and a slow but skillful player could still profit (Le Tissier was fun to watch). I'd say that by the time of PDC that day had passed.

They didn't just side with the players over Di Canio. They sided with all employees barring his coaching staff.
People just need to accept the bloke is/was a complete and utter ****.

I think he’d best GTF out of dodge before the fans are allowed back.

Guaranteed to be on the bench on Saturday, come on after 70 mins at 0-0 for someone who is doing fuck all, and do fuck all. Leadbitter will score a 80th min penna and everyone will say 'got to give parky credit, it's working'

Interesting.Seems to confirm the drinking culture rumours.

The way he plays now he’s probably still at it.

Sound like none of the fuckers gave a fuckety fuck! Like 16 year old kids on a first night out. Sounds like MoN didn't give a toss either.

It seemed to be accepted as the norn.
When Henderson was coming through you would hear comments like, he doesn't even go out, he's just only focussed on football. Good on him, he's done alright.

I know players like Totti and Pirlo and Alonso and Fabregas.

I know it’s been said already but that interview was done before he joined us. At the end the interviewer asks him what he’s going to do next etc

Obviously doesn’t paint a good picture of him mind and adds to the rotten core rumours
