Danny Drinkwater

Gareth Hall?
Yep. Pretty sure he was still here when they voted him worst of the century. Although those votes are skewed as the people voting won’t have seen a huge number of the players who played in the first half of the century I’ll go out on a limb and say he deserved this award.

Reid bringing him in and insisting he played ahead of Kubizcki was the first in a long list of weird grudges/bizarre decisions over the years under Reid.

Evans had a great game on Saturday like, not sure if he can keep that up twice a week so maybe him and Drinkwater could rotate? but I've never really seen why he's been highly rated or went for the money he has when it was clear as day that Kante ran that CM for Leicester.

Like I said, I'm not totally against bringing him in if we can also bring someone in who's a lot more dynamic.

Top, middle or bottom standard tho?

I'd say top to middle like. He'd be great competition for Evans, and would be great alongside Evans in games where we need to be that bit more defensive that Neil can't really offer.

He was excellent for Leicester and got England caps. He probably wasn't quite England standard but probably a bit of a step up on Evans. He would be a risk but the same was true of Pritchard and is really true of any signing.

See, I thought his job was made easy with Kante alongside him. He should never have gotten England caps, but that's says more about the England selection process than anything else. He was piss poor for Chelsea and I can't really comment on his time with Reading.

I mean, it should be a cheap enough deal as he certainly can't command daft money anymore, but I don't see him as a better version of Evans, he's probably much of the same and that's where I think we need better in, especially in CM.

Like I said, I'm not totally against it, but I don't think he brings anything new to what we already have or improves us vastly. Maybe him and a Premier league CM loanee would have me feeling better about any deal for Drinkwater.

His wages will be way out of our league

This. He was supposed to be on 100kpw according to some sources - highest paid player in the Champo last season. It wouldn't surprise me if this were true given he's Chelsea and moved there for a £35m fee.

No doubt his wages at Reading were heavily subsidised by his parent club ... but still.

No chance.

I can see him as competition for Evans, but I'm not sure the starting 11 goes up in quality if he plays over Evans.

I don't know really, got a feeling that he'd be a very bit part player when we really need quality in for that starting 11.

Not totally against it, but not enthusiastic either.

Fair enough. Can't complain with that.
