Danny Boyle quits Bond film

All the recent Bond films have been utter garbage and Daniel Craig has the personality of a half cooked chip.

I watched the casino royale one as people were saying it was brilliant - it made me want to scratch my eyes out so I switched it off like I did with the rest.
Sounds like you need some bloke who couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag shagging lasses he'd never get in a million years while reeling one liners off

I'd rather have Andy Pipkin as bond than Daniel Craig even his name makes me cringe.

If the cheesy Carry on format had stayed a few Dads turning up would have seen the end of Bond .
It had big screen competition ,MI, Bourne etc ,even Spooks on TV
It had to change
Craig has been brilliant .The Brosnan stuff is so lame watching now

The reason they've lasted so long is that they've all suited the time that they were made. Moore's films were perfect for the time, as were Brosnan's and Craig's. Only ones you could argue weren't were the Dalton ones, that were probably ahead of their time.

As tastes progress the Moore/Brosnan films will come back into fashion, and people will probably start looking unfavourably on the Craig ones.

The Bond didn't really change though until Craig ,a harder ,no frills Bond who looked more like he could do the job
I agree it was a progression but it was a dying franchise movie wise

Who's he ?
Just see your film column in the Echo
1/10 he has a daft name

Argh, good choice ,be better in a Who dunnit though ,like The Bridge last series
The column you won't have judging movies by people's names
I honestly dont mind Daniel Craig I just think him as bond is 1/10, I saw a good film he was the lead in last year and really enjoyed it, it was called Silent House or something like that.

Sounds like Craig has brought a new audience and upset the old dwindling one

Dwindling?

I don't think that's true. Dalton was a much grittier Bond than Moore, then Dalton brought it back to suave-town. My hope is that they do the same thing the next time they change Bonds.

Craig looked like he could do the "beating up the enemies with his bare hands" job, but that's never really been the thing that set Bond apart from all the other action heroes that have fallen by the wayside as the Bond franchise continued to thrive. A spy isn't much of a spy if you can spot him from 200 yards away due to his build. Bond should be using his intelligence more than his brawn, avoiding confrontation wherever possible and using clever spy tricks to get out of trouble.

And gadgets, just not stupid gadgets like invisible cars.

FFS Brosnan. Too late to edit.

Good

Chris Nolan would be a great shout

yeah i love his films. really liked his take on batman

I think a good angle would be Bond at England away undercover. He's at the England match with a load of fat topless blokes when he spots his target - a corrupt diplomat. He confronts his nemesis who reveals a nuclear warhead is planted under the centre spot. Bond invades the pitch, digs it up with his spade gadget in his watch, defuses the bomb on 0:07 seconds, gets the ball dribbled it round the defence and scores a thunderbolt. Then he gets shot.

im liking this just for bond having a spade gadget in his watch

Never seen one right through since Octopussy so it was all a no go zone for me .just bits on TV when I've been surfing .Loved all the Craig ones . Can't remember Moore or Brosnan blending in with stealth mind you

Aw man, you're missing out. The Timothy Dalton ones are class. Probably up there among the best movies in the franchise IMO.

Maybe my perception of it dwindling ,those 90s numbers are half of Terminator 2 for example .Probably just me as an adult bloke looking at them as a bit lightweight .

I never liked Dalton at the time, probably cos I was so jaded with the whole Bind franchise towards the end of the Moore/Connery era, but watching them through again I really do like them.

Mind I also like Brosnan much more now as well.

Steven Spielberg asked Cubby Broccoli 3 times but was turned down on each occasion to be a Bond film director.
Saving Private Bond would have been an interesting film.

Might make a good book but not a good action flick ;)

Ah, Die Another Day. One of the worst of the series.

When was the last time you watched one? Licence To Kill is really just a forgettable 80's action flick B movie. It's aged really badly.

Re-watched Licence to Kill not long ago, and really enjoyed it. Dalton films have dated badly in certain parts mind (his hair )

About 6 months ago? I binge-watched them all in order. It is entirely possible I was drunk when I got to the Dalton ones, so I'll watch them again today and get back to you. :)

Well, I just finished watching the Dalton ones back to back. I really enjoyed them both. :)

How much of that is nostalgia value, I couldn't say.
