Dance Of The Knights and Charlie

I think this was true under Reidy. It kind of lost its impact when we were losing every other game.
If a team is losing every week a change of song won't help. We were going to games demoralized. You could have AC/DC playing live, cheerleaders, fireworks, flashing lights and the Red Arrows flying overhead but if the team is losing it'll have little impact.

In big games when Dance of the Knights started and the fans roared it was spine tingling.

It is Chamberlain. I love Dance of the Knights and all the memories it evoked, but it lost its magic after our decline and back-to-back relegations. I personally felt like it was a good time to shelve it on a temporary basis because it didn't belong in League One, and to try something new. I like that Methven was trying to get people at the club to think outside of the box and get ideas going, but as a say, I don't agree with his own music preferences. I certainly don't agree that DotK is uninspiring or boring either.
Ill ask again just in case you needed some time to think.
What did he say that makes you believe he encouraged anyone to “think outside the box” be specific please.

He ‘thought outside the box’ alright. Mainly on how to get every pound out of Sunderland supporters. Want to secure a ticket to a cup game? Buy another ticket as a condition. Want to safeguard ticket buying opportunities for the future? Buy a membership. Want to come for Boxing Day? Extra £2 please. Expecting a crowd against the Mags U23s? Treble the ticket prices.

All the while calling some people parasites, slating switched on supporters as not being business minded, stating that supporters had always chased owners out, slagging off the fact that ‘only’ 37k supporters had made it to the play off final.

It is, in fairness, a unique approach.

Undoubtedly. And I’m sure he thought he’d done an amazing job, and still does.

The Dance of the Knights became synonymous with us from the opening of the SOL.
As times gone by especially with those fuckers it got watered down, not played as loud and some other trendy shite got played for the run out.
Even now the last home game they didn’t even play it.
It needs to be brought back turned up to full volume for the last 5 minutes or so before kick off, fuck all this other shallow shite.
For me the issue with dance of the knights losing a bit of effect was when the daft lining up and shaking hands thing became commonplace. Used to be class, the slow build up of dance of the knights contrasting with ready to go blasting out as the players ran towards the fans, getting roared at all the way. Having to come out and line up spoilt it a bit. That being said I still agree that it should be retained and played louder again
