Dan Neil

He’s gone up a level every year since he broke into the team. We’ll be lucky to keep him much longer.

He was class, he had his detactors initially like a lot of the team have.

It’s takes a long time to drum out the negativity of the supporters. That’s not a criticism, especially when you’ve been in league 1 for 4 years after back to back relegations, seeing some absolute dross turn out for this football club, the mindset is understandably fucked. You just expect the worse.

We saw with Alese and Ekwah after a dodgy start a lot of us were judging them too early (me included). Those days are over, we’ve some absolute quality now, the system is working.

I absolutely love what we have now, genuinely one of the most exciting teams I’ve witnessed in my life time.

I got pelters the other week for saying he was quiet in a game a few weeks ago. I’m going to echo that again, but accompanying with it by saying he’s having a very good season too. Seems to be getting on & doing lots of important & unspectacular stuff but doing it very efficiently for the team. An important part of making things tick. We’ll just not see him smash into a 50/50 or dribble past five men. He’ll still tackle & pass successfully loads in a game every game & keep us moving.

Quietly brilliant again today. Most completed passes, 94% pass completion. Gets about the pitch, gets stuck in and always looks for the right pass.

111 career appearances for the lads at 21. The kids only gonna get better.
Shhh, he is shit, never good enough for a PL team they should look elsewhere, he may as well sign a 10 year deal with us ;)

I think his ability has been enhanced by having a variety of sound players around him, which is brilliant for our future success.

Had his detractors initially? There were threads started on here after each of the first 4 league games this season (like just weeks ago) with clowns still absolutely slating him. Can't remember which particular idiot it was but after the Coventry game on one such thread he was described as "an awful footballer". In the DN thread after Southampton one moron used the Ekwah performance to have a go at Neil, stating both categorically and repeatedly the Neil had neither an assist or goal to his name this season.

People aren't clowns for having different opinions like

He's so efficient at what he does. He could have became one of those sideways and back centre mids that we have seen so many times over the years but he hasn't. He's brave in possession and always looking to go forward. He needs to work on the out of possession stuff but if he was as good out of possession as he is in possession he'd be in the premier League. That will come in time. Buzzing that it's starting to click for him. 😎
