Dan Neil

So it wasn't Dan Neil's fault personally then, being outnumbered n that. Glad that's cleared up.
He was part of the midfield , of course he has to take some personal responsibility, him and Michut were like strangers, and not for the first time this season. I get it he's a local lad and on that basis he is pretty much immune from criticism on here. He's young and has talent, but the season is nearly over and he keeps making the same mistakes that he was making last season and at the beginning of this one.

Good player and why Prem teams were sniffing in January
Played a lot of games this season -a season in which we’ve lost the influence of the club captain next to him and “we “by many peoples agreement -have done very well .

Which teams? The only team I heard was interested in him was Burnley.
To be fair now -it does don’t really matter -however he wanted to stay and signed because he wants to play and not sit on a bench or make up the numbers somewhere .

So you don't know what Premiership clubs were in for him, if in fact any at all 🤷‍♂️ It benefits the club and him to sign a new contract especially when we sell him to increase his value.

But if he’s as poor as you make out the chance of a profit is ?

Where have I said he is poor, again making stuff up, I have said that there are areas of his game, especially turning in to trouble when it would be easier to play a simple ball, that he continues to do and has cost us in games.

Hes not immune from criticism at all, there are obviously areas for him to improve on, they will hopefully come with more game time and probably a bit more physical development too. He's also having to do Cory Evans job which isn't Neil's fault. He's 21 playing at this level for the first time, it's highly likely he will be improving for a few seasons yet. Or do you genuinely believe that's it, he can't and won't improve from where he is now? Personally I think he would have benefited from having an experienced no nonsense ball winner around him, to play off and to learn from. All things considered I think him and Michut are doing okay given their combined lack of experience.

When he plays along side a proper defensive midfield player he gets forward a lot more, his tackling has improved as well as his passing.

I just posted that, but again it's not just making the odd mistake, it's the same mistake, turning in to trouble when pressed and when he should be turning up field when there is no pressure he passes it sideways or back to Patto. Its so frustrating, especially when it costs us on the pitch.

I’d say it’s the complete opposite with some of our fanbase and that he gets more stuck because he’s a local/academy lad. Same as when Honeyman was made a scapegoat when he was one of the only ones that gave a fuck

Players that were much older and more experienced than him, playing in that position used to have nightmares on a weekly basis. Ball and Cattermole two that spring immediately to mind.

I disagree totally with that, Honeyman wasn't a scapegoat, he was bang average, again people thought he was better than he was because he was local.

I rate Neil way above Cattermole, Ball was an enforcer and a brilliant captain who's footballing ability was limited but which he more than made up for with his strength, work rate and passion for the shirt. Again its not just making mistakes, its repeating the same mistake and not learning form it.

Bang average yet he’s closing in on nearly 200 championship games since leaving us, aye nee bother we we certainly replaced him with better players such as the likes of scowen and Dobson didn’t we . Not a great player but better than dross we had for most of the dire league 1 days

He must be doing something right, he's played 32 times this season for a team in 5th place.
And, you know average players play for average teams, the 2 games we played against them he was bang average.

Again average, is never going to set the place on fire, he is just Mr Average

Cattermole was out half the time injured or suspended, games played in 10 years was a joke. Brilliant one game every 4 or 5 he played, regularly a liability. I agree Neil is/will be a far better player.

These errors than Neil keeps making, how many times has it actually happened, how many goals has it cost us? More pertinently though, is that him written off in your eyes? He made no mistakes on Saturday iirc, maybe he's learning.
