I respect that. I just disagree and believe that those fans were wrong.
Young players should be seen for what they can become, not what they're currently.
Having a group of 30 something 6 out of 10s is not anywhere near as valuable as having a group of 18 year old that are currently 5 out of 10 that can become 7s.
The two Jordan's are prime examples. Had Henderson been judged on his chelsea game or pickford on his Southampton we would have been 50m worse off.
To state a young lad doesnt get a second chance and has to hit the ground running is bizarre to me.
He didn't say that you are just looking for a stick to beat him with. It is a statement that could have been made by any manager of any team in the country and no one would have batted an eyelid. He expects Neil to be good enough when he gets his chance and i'm pretty sure if he isn't he will work with him to improve him further.
