I respect that. I just disagree and believe that those fans were wrong.

Young players should be seen for what they can become, not what they're currently.

Having a group of 30 something 6 out of 10s is not anywhere near as valuable as having a group of 18 year old that are currently 5 out of 10 that can become 7s.

The two Jordan's are prime examples. Had Henderson been judged on his chelsea game or pickford on his Southampton we would have been 50m worse off.

To state a young lad doesnt get a second chance and has to hit the ground running is bizarre to me.

He didn't say that you are just looking for a stick to beat him with. It is a statement that could have been made by any manager of any team in the country and no one would have batted an eyelid. He expects Neil to be good enough when he gets his chance and i'm pretty sure if he isn't he will work with him to improve him further.

Ok, so I've misinterpreted what he said then.

This is a football problem not a Parkinson problem though. Managers aren’t given enough time in jobs to give youngsters a chance to gain experience. Wenger had it nailed it on with regards to youngsters, basically that they’re young and make mistakes that cost points but long term the player and club will be better for it. Managers can’t afford to do that though.
The team that was picked today showed no vision or courage and was a complete cop out by Parkinson. That team and system failed miserably last season but it appears he is going to repeat it this season. Why did he wait so long to make the changes. He knows the qualities (or lack of) the team he started and unsurprisingly we saw the same failings as last season. Why didn’t he give the young untried players more game time today. They certainly deserved it from their performances in the first two friendlies. I’m pleased I cancelled my season card and will not renew it if we have to watch the same players failing again whilst our young, committed talent is sold off without being given the chance to show what they can do. If we can see it why can’t Parkinson.

Someone we have lacked for too many years someone who looks forward not sideways or backward he is like a breath of fresh air!!!

was saying exactly that today to the lads in the sports club who all know him,
I said I hope our manager can see this and has the balls to play him,
I wouldn't hold my breath though

Agree with all that. It’s like he has one style/system and that’s it. Almost seems frightened to change it. What happened to his so called pressing game? In all honesty it was pretty dreadful today and a painful watch before changes.

I watched the first two games and things improved after half time when the changes were made,
tell you what, if I was manager that would give me an idea!!!

That's why Parkinson never got to be a top flight manager. He's set in his ways.

Spot on.
We will be nowhere near top 2 with PP.
Might sneak play off place, but another shit season lies ahead.

Only a couple of sub appearances but he looked very good. Beyond the ability level, he looks like he wants the ball and to drive forward and make things happen. We've been lacking that in the middle for donkeys years.

Hume, Embleton, Neil, Diamond could all be massive plusses if they step up, especially with the wage cap.

I'd rather see the home grown lads given a chance but doubt Parky will.

Strangely I think the cap might force him to, to an extent. The days of signing over the hill players winding down their careers should be behind us and we need to focus on the future. Under 23s being exempt from the cap should mean we prioritize them.

I hope you're right but I'm not a big Parky fan.

You need to manage these young lads carefully, and you can't just throw them in week after week at this level when it's so physical.

We're likely to see a lot of Neil this year though. He's very highly rated.
