Fairly generous to suggest that it's only backing that stops PP playing youths, marra. Whilst I'm sure it plays a part, he's ultimately like virtually every manager in British football in that he uses 'senior pros' as a security blanket
Well if he’s openly unwanted, getting panned for losing every game, job’s fragile and at risk he isn’t going to play the long game. He needs permission to do so and some support via a plan we all agree with. I don’t think it’s the only reason. Out of respect for the other pro’s he will pick people on merit and rightly so or he disrespects them. Hence the need for it all to join up with strategy and recruitment and him to have clarity and backing.

Neil, Diamond, Embleton, Hume are all good enough to start League 1 games, the exciting thing about players like this is that in most cases they will just get better and better.

You can expect the odd dip in form and need to be taken out of the firing line for a few games but then it is important to bring them back in, unlike what happened to Mumba.

Embleton's problems have never been a lack of talent or ability to affect a game, it's been an unfortunate run of injuries which is very common in young players adjusting to adult football. A similar thing hampered Martyn Waghorn's, Ethan Robson's and John Egan's Sunderland careers. It's important that the club can afford to stick with these players until it is almost certain that they aren't going to attain the strength and fitness required to have good careers.

That's one of the major problems with the current ownership, they have made decisions regarding young players driven by a lack of money available to invest in the club which has left us with very low numbers of talented young players in the different age groups.

A system set up to fail.

The manager knows he is, at best, 2 bad months away from the sack.

Manager tailors club accordingly towards the next 2 months.

Tailoring the club towards the next 2 months brings shit consequences.

Eventually, it always catches up with the manager.

Rinse and repeat.

“As a young player, you don't get the chance in football to feel your way in. You've got to take your chance and make an impact when you come to train with the first team."

This is backwards, isn't it?

Why wouldn't you as a young player get the chance to "feel" your way in?

Are they expected at 18 to instantly improve the first team?

Yeah I clocked that. Parkinson’s got that completely backwards.

Impressed again. Get him in and around the starting 11
Positive when he gets it, nice and easy one two’s - difference against what we’ve endured for last 4-5 years is he actually wants to get beyond and revive the one two.

These lads will have a big part this season from what I’ve seen...dynamic and full of confidence.

Not under the current manager they won’t. Dinosaur if I ever saw one.
