Yes, he's a jarra lad,
I'm mates with his dad,
Don't think his dad gets on here and if he does I'd never say anything untoward, it's blatantly obvious who I am to him with my username!

if he does, any spare match tickets will be most welcome
Tell him to get signed up 😜

So in other words he’s shown more in 2 games than Embleton has in 3 games?

Embleton has has 5 league appearances and has been involved in previous pre-season games since around 2017 so no. I'm not having a go at the lad, I am desperate for him to do well. But, I haven't seen anything in him over the past 3 years and times we have got to see him in a Sunderland shirt. He did have a good spell on loan in League 2 which gives me extra hope. So yeah, I have seen more in 2 games from Neil, who looks extremely comfortable in 1st team surroundings.

Do you think the new owners will want to invest more in the academy set up and try and get it to where it should which I believe is producing 2 players every season that will step up to the first team squad

If 2 players is your aim it does that now

Premseason : Pickford and Gooch
Champ season: Asoro and Honeyman
L1 season 1: Maja and Hume
L1 season 2: Embleton and Mumba/Robson
This season: Diamond/Neil

He’s never really had a decent run in the side. According to Transfermarkt those 5 league appearances amount to 84mins.

None of us have seen enough of either player to make judgement, especially after friendlies against Gateshead and Carlisle.

I think Dan Neil looks a very good prospect but they way some people are carrying on he’s the next Stefan Schwarz and should now be an automatic pick in our midfield.

Were you at Burnley or Sheffield Utd last season? Embleton was the best player on the pitch for much of the 135 minutes and that was against far better opposition than Gateshead trialists 11 and Carlisle.
We’ve got two excellent prospects, why even raise a comparison?

Because its a message board and he looks more of a prospect for me. Even after two games against Gateshead and Carlisle.

Agreed. I was making a comment on a message board. Neil looks a better prospect for me based on what I have seen. I really hope both of them tear up League One for us.

TBF, the fact that Parky has said he’ll be around the first team whereas Embleton was a year older before he even got his L2 loan would indicate you’re right.

From our perspective, unless anyone on here watched Grimsby a lot, none of us will really have seen enough of either player to make a judgement. I’d love nothing more than to have Hume, Embleton, Diamond, Gooch and Neil all starring for us as we win L1 this season! There can’t be many clubs in English football over the last few seasons with 5 academy products in their starting eleven.

Everyone was saying Embleton was our best player last pre-season and he has only started one league game since so it's still very early to make a decent judgement on either of them tbh.

Hopefully he gets gradually brought in to the team and given enough time for him to fully develop in to a regular first team player for us.

I don’t want to build this lad up and then see him get hammered for the inevitable odd dip in performance but he looked like a breath of fresh air yesterday.

He seems to have a turn of pace and the ability to run forward with the ball. He‘ll never fit in here - get him sold !

I should have worded it better i was thinking more of being an important part of the squad that will improve the team, maja was one of the main ones but we didn't know how quick to cash in on him. Asoro never really got a game, then the likes of Embleton, Mumbai Robson, Diamond and Neil haven't really had much of first team football although I'm hopeful that some will.
So really out of that list there are 2 players that we have produced that we still have that are regular first team players

I'd play them all regularly next season, Diamond, Neil, Embleton. Doubt Parkinson will though, it'll be so called tried and trusted first. We need a manager who's a bit brave in that respect imo.
Totally agree we have one of the most unexciting CM, just give the young lads a chance fuck me it can't be any worse
