According to Cole, the lad we sold to Leeds, Daniel Neil and Cole (Kiernan) were all given one year deals with the word that the academy would be significantly invested in. Then all three had bids accepted within a week of signing and all other academy players were released, and each of the three basically forced out. Neil deal fell through, other two obviously left - Cole to boro and the other lad to Leeds. Doesn’t sound good for the lads future here tbh.
You mean Hugill to United or did someone go to Leeds?

Can't get carried away as there's a difference between pre season games against teams in the leagues below and proper games but be nice to give him a chance not like we're filled with quality players in midfield.

You may well be right. I couldn’t remember the lads name, as he used first names and it didn’t register at the time. I did think Leeds were around one of our player at the time, not sure.

Think they took some of our academy staff

I keep hearing soundbites unlucky not to play, bonus player I'm not sure Parkinson is keen to play him, give him a game next 2games if he's good great start him in the league if not use him as impact sub

If we were in the Premier league or a good championship team and were loaning out a young talented player like Neil to league one, we'd be dismayed at him not getting games. Now we are at this low level, let's not hold him back just because he's young and inexperienced. Cliché but if he's good enough he's old enough. The attributes he has have been sorely missing in our squad.

Out of all of the younger players to have been in and around the first team squad over the last few years, young Dan has the best composure out of all that I have seen.

Although the games have been behind closed doors, he seems not to be phased and makes the right decision and execution on a pass the majority of times which you don't normally see in younger players.

Fingers crossed he keeps it up and gets his chance.

We don't have a Dele Alli though.
No coz we sold all of our best prospects before they were 17!!!

Fine line between playing young players and having too many in team. I'd certainly have him in and around the first team next season. Either starting or on bench as min on current showing. Better than most of current senior pro's so far.

It doesn’t matter who the opposition is, if a young player, no matter his age, is performing better than his older more experienced team mates, then surely that shows he deserves to be in the side on merit.

Great kid from Jarrow brought up by a great family who has come through the system since being a little one. The kid is a Sunderland fan who would do anything to play for his home town club. Thrilled to bits he is in and around it. He’s been through a lot in his footballing career already and I’m happy he is reaping the rewards. The loyalty this kid is showing is unbelievable and I don’t think the club actually deserves him. I hope he becomes a legend!

Why would you
You pick the in form players who make things happen, they are the ones who win tight games.

Good to hear. If he is overlooked after his performances preseason then there’s no point at all having an academy especially considering the number of young players we’ve had on loan from the premier league and championship. You can see he has great ability and energy, exactly what we are short of and he’s here and desperate to give his all for SAFC. Another Jordan Henderson in the making!
