Dan Neil- superb tonight

I have grown to appreciate him more and more this season. The contrast between the Stoke game and last night just highlighted even more how important a player he is for us.

Interesting that from his red card until he returned last night, aggregate score was 6-1 against us. We've noone else who can do what he does. He could do with some shooting practice like the rest of them

Christ man we've been used to midfield plodders for decades. We've now finally got a very talented local lad which loves the club. He's got more talent in his little finger than the shite that have played in midfield for us

Yet you still get people on here moaning about the likes of dan Neil. Unbelievable

here here. The best central midfielder weve had in an age.

I've never seen the hype in Neil.
There has been nothing there. He was swamped with Evans along side of him however he hasn't half kicked on this year.
Still young, still developing but much much improved.

Can’t believe people are actually blaming him for the goal. O’Nein delayed the pass til Hume didn’t want it. Hume panicked and absolutely pummelled it at Neil from about 5 yards away.

Not his fault but can't be a shock at all to see blame on him.

There are certain players who can make as many mistakes as they like and will be near enough immune to criticism on here - Ballard, Ekwah and Hume appear to be the main ones at the moment. Whereas there are players who are the complete opposite and will be piled on regardless because a lot of folk have already made their mind up about them - O'Nien, Neil and seemingly Patrick Roberts has now found his way into this category currently.

Neil gave the ball away in a poor position against Watford a few weeks ago and got roundly slated for it on here by a good few desperate to jump on any mistake he made saying he was making the same mistakes as last season. It seemed to go completely under the radar that we then didn't concede from that incident because Dan Neil made a clean tackle and won the ball back a few seconds later on the edge of our box.

All a bit daft really.

He did level off for quite a while last season, I thought. I that may have been down to him learning a new position and role in the side. We missed him a lot against Stoke.

Best midfielder on the park last night.
Winks.

Well I don't think that's accurate.

I don't think Hume panicked particularly, and he certainly didn't "absolutely pummel" it.

Neil's touch however was rank.

I'll stop short of blaming him for the goal, but the turnover in possession certainly comes about because he mis-controlled it.

Why didn't Neil control Hume's pass, flick it up then volley it over the Leicester keeper from 90 yards? Useless!

The problem isn't just the pace of the pass but the fact he hits at that pace off the ground. It's bobbling all over the place and that makes it extremely difficult to control in a tight space. Hume imo should just get rid of it if he can't play it along the floor in that position, rather than give that pass to Neil in that area.

Well having watched that for the first time since the initial live viewing last night Neil has made a complete pigs ear of it.

That's clearly not the directive though is it. We play it out in tight situations all the time. That's how we play.

It will inevitably go wrong from time to time and put us under the cosh.

Like I say, I don't particularly blame him for the goal, but he did lose possession. It's wasn't Hume's fault and it wasn't O'Nien's.
