Went for a lovely bikeride the other day but my Graham is now nacking, I have already got a gel-seat cover but wondering if how much a difference cycling shorts will be. Do they make much of a difference or would I be better of getting an expensive gel seat, or even both?

The shorts make a difference but whatever you do don't get just the lycra ones.....you can get normal shorts with lots of pockets, etc and a lycra padded inner short

How often fo you get out mate? I find that padded shorts on their own are fine but do take a good few rides for the arse to settle down.

If you want the extra protection Lidl often have them for £5 or £6.

I did a 30km ride on Sunday with shorts with a padded gusset. Made fuck all difference. Still feels as if I've been bummed senseless 2 days later.

This - I have a couple of pairs of shorts and got the inners which are similar to boxers from Edinburgh cycle co-op. Mind cycling a few times toughens you up.

Never been on my bike for about a year, however went for a ride the other day and it was really good, going to go for another ride in an hour or so when I work out what cycling or padded shorts to buy.

Going to start going on one or two bikeride's a week now like.

Cheers for all the advice lads.

I am going to nip to Sportsdirect at Hylton later, its closest. I would imagine it will have some canny options.

Gan support neecassel while your at it marra

That would be the best answer

Is it that much better? If so then I will go to Halfords, it isnt too much further. Whilst I am there, if I buy a gel seat, are they easy to put on your bike yourself? May as well buy one of those too if I gan to Halfords.

Much better

and the gel seats are usually elasticated with drawstrings to tie them on - will take you 2 minutes to put on
