Hopefully because he has someone better lined up!

I couldn't help thinking Wickham or Defoe would have tapped in the chances Lens created the other night..... Of course in true smb style Wickham gets better the less he plays, he'd more than likely have been stood on the edge of the box admiring his latest tattoo

this is our hope.
Dick has been round the block... he knows his shit, no matter what you think of wickham, dicks descion would have been final, as weve never had a manager with his pedigree before. ellis was pretty much begging him to stay and i think that nothing get done without advocaat signing off on it

Has underperformed for us, played largely out of position, appears indifferent / lazy, does not know / does not care about utilising his size, potential power.

Selling for a good price would make sense (no idea if it is a good price), and replacing with better makes sense.

I believe he will do well for them, pardew will play to his strengths / kiss his arse etc etc, double figures for the lad, and surprised fans here wondering what could have been.

Physically he has all the attributes needed to be a real threat, except pace, he should be terrifying the opposition.

We have previous when it comes to locking rather than unlocking potential.
He's nee slouch mind.

He'll never be prolific. He just doesn't have the striker's instinct that Defoe or even Fletcher have. Also for a big lad he's as soft as shite.

A big lad weighing in with 10 a season and helping out the team is an asset.

He will do well somewhere else, no issue with selling him, but he certainly is not shit, and if we sell cheap with no clause we are f***ing mad.

6ft plus / English / Centre Forward / Young / Premier League Experience

How much would he cost us?, will drop a hint, it would be north of £10m

That's exactly it. That's what people see from the outside. I have watched him for 5 years. 5. He doesn't use his attributes and really isn't a top level player IMO.

I Agree he does not utilise his attributes, but have they been polished here? Have we understood where to play him?

You know as well as I do that we are a f***ing graveyard for a lot of players, they all come from somewhere, so why do they look shit for us and decent elsewhere?

I think selling him and replacing with better makes sense, but the lads laughing at palace and mocking the lad are in for a shock.

We sold the wrong striker, and if the numbers are correct, too cheap.

They have a player we have invested in , it will of course come back to haunt us

We invested, it didn't work, let's cut our ties and move on.

Personally I don't give a fuck how he does for them. All I care about is the fact that he didn't do it for us - for whatever reason.

I just hope the space and wages it frees up are out to good use that's all. Although I'm more confident that we'll get the right player in with Dick as manager so let's just see what happens.

I don't think so. A total of 22.5m for Connor Wickham who has scored minimal goals in 90 games. 9/10m fee and 12.5m on wages to reinvest on someone who might have potential and can actually deliver it. We have waited for 5 years with Wickham. He hasn't delivered it.

We've already replaced him with Lens, he was never good enough to remove Fletcher, Graham and Defoe from up front which to me says it all.

We might end up selling Fletcher and Graham as well. I hope we do. But TBF getting rid of any of those three for whatever we paid for them is good business IMO.

Yes, but how about a big lad with 11 in five seasons?

£22.5m?

Then you need to review the sunk cost for the entire squad, calculate what their contribution has been to the Club, and then rank them all.

I would wager he is not top of the waste list.

Just been reading it. You'd think they were Real Madrid the way some of them are going on.

Aye he may come good and they seem to think his use as a winger means he hasn't had a proper chance as a centre forward. Have they not thought that maybe the fact he couldn't displace the rest of our shite forwards means he just isn't that good?
That is true though.

As for the second part, it wasn't that he couldn't displace the other centre forwards - he was needed there on the left. There was no one else. I always remember Keane talking about Chopra when we used to employ him on the right, and he described him as being a "victim of his own success". It was a case of needs must that he played there. If we had signed Borini last summer, Wickham would have been our centre forward.

There's been 5 managers and umpteen more coaches during his time here that have failed to get the best out of him - whatever that actually is.

Not including the current u21 set up who binned him as soon as they could despite the fact he should have been beasting centre halves his own age for fun.

Let's face it, he could have been a f***ing monster if he knew how to apply himself. But he just doesn't, or isn't able, to do that.

Yes. Wages on current contract and fee to be received. He hasn't shown that we should turn down such money and continue to pay him 60K a week.

Absolutely bang on.

When did this happen?

He's of the standard bottom half premier league player. If that makes him worth £10 million then we truly are tucked.
