He has some of the attributes a good striker needs, however he is lazy, deceptively weak, nowhere near as clinical as he should be and simply doesn't cause defenders many problems. He scored 4 or 5 goals for us last season and I remember 1 vs City was hit off him into the net, 1 was a tap in from 3 yards against Stoke away and the others were simple finishes from about 10 yards away that strikers in this league should make. They are paying the money for his potential which for us I think he has shown little to no signs of reaching, as he looks as if he thinks he has already made it when he has a long way to go yet.
It looks like he has made it to the London nightclubs....good luck CW thank you for your service at Sunderland

I thought the lazy myth got convincingly put to bed last season? You can criticise his talent all you want but he definitely isn't lazy. Poor posts that include that imo.
This- Palace fans shouldnt be concerned about his workrate,,,Personally I would be more concerned about his technical ability

More the case I'm not sure who would replace him, rather than he'll score loads... Not convinced by Sow and he seems the most credible link we have atm.
Never seen him play either but I still really do not know what type of striker we really need, although most of the one we have are shit and we did have the full spectrum of strikers, all of whom have proved that they cannot function together. Will be interesting to see what type of striker Dick is after

Ill drive the uaeless fucker there myself. Posters saying we will regret this get a grip man ffs, Wickham is a boneidle useless tosser

Hes got really bad balance that's how he's pushed off so easy

Little do the palace fans realise is that Pardew has only signed him to nail any of his birds.

Very good signing. Young, plenty of potential to develop further and on his day, an absolute beast. When he's good, he's very, very good. He's played in an awful side that has employed often negative tactics due to always being in a relegation battle, that has little creativity and even less confidence...about the worst set up he could have had at the development stage of his career. He's have been better to stay at Ipswich a couple of years longer.

May have mixed them up but I tell you this post ain't too fAr off the mark!!!
Miles off. The lad is average at best and will continue to be average. If anyone thinks he will be better off at a team like palace who are equally as shit if not worse than us over the course of the season then they're mistaken.

Your missing my point.
The poster from palace has criticised the way we have used him.
I agree that he has been poorly used by the club. Last year he was seen defending in the left midfield role, shoehorned there due to there being NO alternative.
This was cringeworthy at times watching him.
Now it appears dick has bought that role, considers other players better in the role he is suited to and decided to cut losses.
I would also suggest that he has something lined up before he goes

People forget that he was mainly played as a left forward for ipswich when he broke into their team ad a youngster. I agree that he hasn't developed too well but maybe it's because his potential wasn't that great rather than it being due to the club loaning him out then playing him on the left. In any case, going to a team like palace will do nothing for his development imo

Good job he's gone to perennial title-contenders Crystal Palace then.

If they're expecting a 'beast' they're in for disappointment. He's like Ainsley Harriott
