Criticism of O'Neill's approach

Stoke play a lot worse stuff than us.

I'd disagree. I doubt Stoke fans are ever as bored as we've been at times this season. It's agricultural, and it's hardly the beautiful game, but they go out to try and win games, even if that is by filling the box with bodies and lumping the ball in.

That's funny because their fans main gripe is that Pulis doesn't go out to win games and is typically safety first.

Fair enough, I don't watch them every week, my impression whenever I've seen them has always been of loads of big lads and the ball booted up field at Peter Crouch's head. But at least pushing bodies up behind him looking for knock downs.

Difference is simply that they do it well. Although saying that, stats such as clean sheets suggest we're not inept at it. But it isn't pretty.

The premier league has moved on a lot since his days at villa. Those bargain Englishmen aren't there anymore for a start (I know, young wasn't cheap as such). But it's a formula that worked for him then, and I think he's determined, stubborn maybe, to prove not only to the fans and the media, but also himself that he hasn't lost it.

As we've seen, when it clicks, it's ace.

When we're poor, we play like a team that's just been promoted. Far more talent, but less ambition than the 15 pointers at times.

In recent years the promoted teams (to their credit) have stayed up. I'm not sure if it's arrogance or naivety with MON and it can hardly be the latter. Can he not see how crap some of our lot are? It might be that we just cant shift some of these lads on, and for the record, Gardner would be at the bottom of my list in that case.

I think hes warmed to the region and when asked to step up and take a penalty the lad has f***ing lashed them in. That takes balls and I admire him for it. My criticism of MON is the absolutely bloody awful, amateur displays from supposedly professional footballers.

I have nothing further to add to this debate but this is my 2000th post according to my profile

Edit, do I not become a winger or something at 2000.
