I would say, although its still very early days, this season Chelsea look unstoppable and not even man city can compete with them. Next year after a year working under lvg man utd should be vastly improved and I'd expect them to compete, Liverpool have had a terrible start and as Brendan Rodgers has said it's a year of transition for them, they can't cope without Suarez, next season they will be expecting to compete again. Arsenal should be competing with the squad that they have. I think that all 4 of these clubs can challenge for the title but man utd and Liverpool are in a state of transition. Chelsea have an excellent squad and I can't see past them this year

liverpool last season was a bit of a fluke mate

they dont have the financial resources to compete with the elite. thats why they sold suarez. look a the deloitte football rich list they have a smaller turnover than dortmund who are always linked with selling their best players like

I'm not too sure I agree with that. English teams took it seriously last season. Swansea just came up against a better side in Napoli and this Spurs team that got smashed by Benfica last season looks pretty strong to me!

  • 25 Lloris
  • 02 Walker (Rose - 76' )
  • 16 Naughton
  • 30 Sandro Booked (Bentaleb - 82' )
  • 04 Kaboul
  • 05 Vertonghen Booked
  • 07 Lennon
  • 08 Paulinho
  • 10 Adebayor
  • 37 Kane (Soldado - 75' )
  • 23 Eriksen

It looks to me as though they play their second string in the group stages and field a stronger team in the knockout phases which can't be good for getting consistency in European games. It's a different pace to the premier league, much slower which will suit Italian and Spanish sides, perhaps that also plays a factor. English sides don't play act and try to con the referee as much, we are far more honest in our approach to the game. I can't stand the moments in European games when players roll around on the floor for 5 minutes acting like they've been shot. I think quite a few factors sway European ties in Spanish teams favour. The biggest difference compared to real madrid and Barcelona though is that we don't have 2 teams who buy up all the best talent in the country, it is spread more evenly between the top 6 teams

That's true but they do have a future world class player in sterling and a bright young manager in Brendan Rodgers, he doesn't seem to have a good track record in the transfer market but if he finds another top class striker to play with Sturridge I think they'll be a threat. Balotelli isn't good enough imo. They'll also need to replace Steven Gerrard soon, easier said than done i know.

two of the greatest club footballers in history. No doubts about it. Messi is the most naturally talented footballer since maradona and Ronaldo is a machine.

messi has already peaked mind but Ronaldo looks like he's in it for the long haul.

A few years ago they were just as good as each other, no doubt. Nowadays Messi isn't fit to lace Ronaldo's boots.

Messi at his very best was probably just about better than Ronaldo, however Ronaldo has clearly been the best player in the world in the last 18 months to 2 years.
I think this sums it up. It's the same old tired arguments, some pick Ronaldo some pick Messi, just enjoy two incredible talents, we might not even get another like them in our lifetime.

The Ronaldo/Messi argument is so f***ing tedious now it's unreal.

I personally prefer Ronaldo and think you could put him on any team, in any league and he'd still score goals.

Got to begrudgingly admit ronaldo is some player & seems to have cut out his diving was my only flaw agaisnt him & he played for Real Madrid

Yes messi dived at times as well but not as many as ronaldo

Having said that Awsome goalscoring record

Moment top 3 players for me

Ronaldo
Costa
Messi

Except sunderland ;)

Henderson is getting to be as good as Gerrard was at about the same age. Just needs to have more confidence in his finishing ability.

His work rate and passing range are already up there with a young "Stevie G"

Whilst they are undoubtedly brilliant footballers neither has really done at the top international level for me. You could excuse Ronaldo this as the Portugal team isn't the best but Messi has never really done it in a top drawer international side - I mean he got player of the tournament in the last world cup when he wasn't even the best player in the Argentina side. They are a bit like our current crop of 'world class' talents where they aren't quite as good good outside of their very strong club sides.

Does England have any 'world class' players apart from at a stretch Rooney?

8 years ago there was Neville, Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Beckham, Lampard and Gerrard. Now there's Baines, Glen Johnson, Jagielka, Welbeck, Henderson and Delph

Ronaldo could play anywhere on the pitch and be the best player, Messi couldn't. One could win a game on his own, regularly, the other couldn't.

No comparison for me.
