Do you think much cricket will be played today?

Looking at the forecast, I think it's one of those days when they know it'll rain heavily in places but they aren't entirely sure where it will happen. I think we are all subject to a bit of luck today, games that miss the heavy stuff should be ok.

The Academy's game at Ashrooke is currently on, the Academy are fielding and have sunderland 50-4.

Whiteleas 186-5 (35 overs) Bill Quay 161-7 (25 overs) - match drawn; Quay 12 points Whiteleas 10 points.

Two hours lost to rain.

In DCL you need the team batting first to get at least 35 overs if the rain comes after the start, and the team batting second then need to get at least 25 overs back to constitute a game. When we went off at about 3pm Whiteleas had faced 25 overs; so we were able to work out the latest time at which we could get back on. This was 5.15pm as -

We needed to get another 35 overs in (10 more for them, then 25 for us)
The game finishes at 7.30pm
There are 17 overs an hour
That meant 2 hours 5 minutes to get 35 overs in - with 10 minutes added for the change of innings that meant a 5.15pm restart.

Luckily the rain finished at about 4.45pm and the ground was playable in time to get back on at 5.15pm.

Hope that makes sense!!
