Interesting results in the NEPL today. Losses for South North, Burnmoor and Chester Le Street.

It’s because they think they bigger than they are rather than local clubs in club cricketOn the point of the NEPL, the coloured clothes/ orange ball is completely unnecessary in Saturday cricket imo.
Looks tacky and adds expense for lads for second sets of gear etc.
The ongoing tussle between W/L and W/D/L though isn’t it. If we’re going to do W/L for half the games (which the clubs voted for) then coloured kit and orange balls make sense. On the point of the NEPL, the coloured clothes/ orange ball is completely unnecessary in Saturday cricket imo.

The extra expense is a ballache, it feels appropriate wearing it though for the format of the game.
I’m a traditionalist, I didn’t really have a problem with the whites, I recognise though that the younger generation go more for the characteristics of the shorter formats, which include coloured clothing. I can live with it, maybe gives more of a distinct feel to the two different formats as well.Other leagues play win/ lose in whites, it’s never been an issue.
It's the Burnnopfield side which catches they eye!The majority of ECB Premier Leagues play W/L cricket in colours.
In Northern Ireland, the top league there play zero cricket in whites.
There is a big anti-NEPL feeling on this board. It is basically a semi professional standard where you're playing against Durham players or ex pros week in week out. As such, the league should be trying to be as close to the professional game as possible.
Back to the point of the thread - very interesting results. This is the most open the league has been for a long time. There are no certainties to go down as there has been previously. At the top - I still expect that Burnmoor team to be too strong. They have serious depth in their batting and plenty of options with the ball.
I actually thought if you take Carse out of that side then it isn't too strong. Once Carse has regained fitness I don't expect he will be available for many club games. Although Gareth Harte will undoubtedly do well. Presume he hasn't arrived in UK yet as he didn't play at weekend. It's the Burnnopfield side which catches they eye!
Local club cricket has always been a good standard at times played against test players! The majority of ECB Premier Leagues play W/L cricket in colours.
