Derbyshire have signed Dilshan
Somerset have signed Chris Gayle
Notts have signed Darren Sammy
Sussex have signed Jayawardene
Northants have signed Afridi
Yorkshire have signed Maxwell

All for T20.

Where the hell are these clubs getting the money from? We can't even afford to keep Gareth Breese

No idea why these players can't be signed for Championship and Cup cricket either, that's what gets me.

Notts and Birmingham are in the Carribean and all.

Somerset have freed up a canny wedge having to get out of paying the vast majority of Keiswetters yearly wage. Read that it's been covered by the PCA.
Sussex, Notts and Yorkshire aren't exactly poor.
Northants and Derbyshire clearly hoping the crowds will come and pay for their marquee signings.

Goes without saying. Sad state of affairs though.

The equivalent of spunking it all on a one night stand over a long, loving romance.

Is a bit sad that clubs aren't interested in paying players for proper cricket.
It's a f***ing stupid trend. Glad we went for a team player across all formats in the form of Hastings rather than a mercenary that'll make the part-timers go 'Ohh'.

I remember the 70's when you signed a couple of overseas players and virtually stayed with the same county throughout their careers.

Over the full season, Durham will get far more value from Hastings than any of the counties in the OP will get from their "superstars".

Players like Gayle just hawk themselves around the world's T20 tournaments picking up a decent pension on the way.

Good luck to him and others like him but it breeds the wrong type of cricketer.

Hastings will hopefully be just as explosive a player for us in the T20s as some of the huge names anyway.

Still think we are desperately short in the top order like... Have to wonder how much some of the Bangladeshi or Zimbabwean lads would cost, cant be much more than a full time home grown player surely?!

I think Sean Williams, Brendan Taylor, Mamudullah & Al-Hassan would all exel in domestic county cricket.

Brendan Taylor has signed for Notts, given up international cricket. If Durham where going to go down the dodgy passport route they should have signed Cosgrove who has signed for Leicestershire.
