Creativity is alive and well.

Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of pretention. I own every Captain Beefheart album

But that video is a triumph of form over content. It's just not that good, but dressed up in lots of affectation

I'm honestly amazed anyone could come to that conclusion but each to their own I guess.. be boring if we all thought the same..

It's just one lad, sitting in a chair playing some pretty tight guitar, singing with a decent voice, rapping to a very high standard, doing an internal monologue split personality scene .. the style and form of the video is as basic as you can get, the depth of it is in the lyrics and the delivery/performance... It's the exact opposite of style over substance for me

Out of interest have you listened to the lyrics, or was it press play WTF stop like I did first time?

Got about a minute in, and I was cringing so much it was like watching a Some Mothers Do Ave Em box set

Mannered, affected and fake.

Been having a bit listen to the lad since he exploded on YouTube.
Some tremendous stuff there, not all of it my cup of tea but there's such a wide range of styles there that that's inevitable.
Love the fact the Hi Ren, The Tale of..., Money Game, Chalk Outlines etc. are all actually filmed and performed live in one take. Makes it all the more astounding what he's doing with it.
Money Game Pt. 1 is my own personal earworm at the minute.
