Crayfish

Thousands of them free for the taking,i used to stick a few traps out in the river mole when I fancied some, are they in the wear yet?

Our local river, the Tees is wick with them and they are a real pest (they ruin salmon and sea trout fisheries by eating their eggs) . Unbelievably Northumbria water insist you need a licence to fish for them . There's so many in some of the tributaries that blerks catch them in large numbers using a landing net .

It’s also illegal to put them back in if you accidentally catch them.
I’ve had a good few bbqs from the Lune.
