Craft Beer

Just drinking Dark Materials, an excellent chocolate stout by Heavy Water Brewing Company in Oxford. It does exactly what a good stout should, and at 8%, way too easy to neck.

We visited Crossover Blendery yesterday, they're based on a farm a few miles outside of Stevenage/Hitchin. Got there early for a little tour where they talked you through the whole process, from starting the Blendery, kitting out the barn, buying the barrels, picking the fruit etc.

Couple of their beers on tap, couple of guest, and then most of their releases by the bottle. The beers are fantastic, and their latest morello cherry one might be the best yet. They're lightly acidic, relatively low in carbonation, and not overly fruited, so if you've tried these crazy sour fruit juices before and been turned away from it, this could be more up your street.

Two sound blokes as well. Should be a good year for them as they've now had beer in barrels for 2+ years which opens the door to some interesting blends. Well worth a visit if any of you are in the area.

Had the Vault City Blueberry and Maple sour and the Vault City mango sour from Tesco last night. Both were lovely. I don't normally like maple as an adjunct as it's too sweet but this one was nice.

got my eye on sonnet43's honeycomb imperial stout this week as well as a couple of Hammerton sours
Aye, I like the look of that’n like.

Looking at it, I might be off the drink hopefully until the train down to Wembley on the 20th.
Lidl doing their festival again from Thursday. Usually a load of poor stuff, with the odd good thing.

A stout & Porter there that are new to me that’ll I’ll buy, just cos.

Hammerton sours are generally quite poor imo. I'd personally be looking elsewhere for better quality gear. Have you tried anything from Pastore, Three Hills or Pomona Island? They all do much better kettle sours.

Poor selection that, same old names, Williams, Drygate etc. I'll try the dark ones but swerve the rest I reckon.
