Craft Beer

Blimey. That's pretty slick
Would be a little harder with the blade keg, as it’s bigger and a more awkward shape, but doable or buy a separate fridge for it. With the PD keg, whack it in the freezer for an hour, that gets you to about 5 degrees and then slap it in the machine, job done. Maybe takes 30-45 mins from there to 3 degrees. Friday night here we come.

I asked on here about then perfect pint machines a while ago. I’m assuming they’re the same? Anyhow, somebody made a really good point that unless you’re drinking the same drink, you’ll have to clean it out everytime you want a new can. I abandoned the idea at that point.
Most right down the wormhole will be of this opinion.

Can't see the point of them at all. If you want to brew beer then surely the joy is in the process, adapting recipes etc. It's a long winded way of getting an average beer to drink at home.

The craft beer channel on YouTube did a video on it a few months ago.
You're likely to know this mate. Does Islington have any good places for craft gear? Used to enjoy a drink there but was years ago and my tastes have changed.

Ha I was gonna say but didn’t want to offend as the craft community is a small one. He seems a nice enough guy but he’s hit or miss with his opinions.
He's harmless enough, just trying to make a few quid out of a hobby he enjoys. His content is crap like, but I admire him throwing in reviews of the latest Iceland frozen meals or new crisps, really bizarre!

Plenty, there's even a brewery (Hammerton). You visiting?

The Sutton Arms, greater Sutton street. Ask for Mick, spot on London boozer. I’d also try Dovetail, Exmouth Arms just up from there is brilliant. Pivo is good if you like Czech beer.

Yeah I’m not knocking the fella and he seems a good guy. I agree with him on Rock, they’ve become a disgrace. But he gives some beers 8/9 out of ten that I wouldn’t bother with.

Next month at some point I'm meant to be down London with work so doing a bit of preemptive planning.

You don’t need to clean a perfect draft between kegs?
No, basically each keg comes up a new flow tube which fits inside the permanent metal keg dispenser. Technically you could just go from keg to keg to keg and you’d just have new rubber flow tube each time. Personally I rinse, at the least, the metal keg tube and wipe the inside of the machine after each keg. In fairness to the machine, it is very low maintaince. I wouldn’t pay what they’re asking for it now like and I think beerhawk are making strange decisions when it comes to new beer choices, but overall I still recommend.

Nice one. Do you know where in Islington? It's a long borough. Off the top of me head I'd recommend the following (and fully in agreement with @TDalt's recommendations):
  • Sutton Arms (Clerkenwell) - great old school boozer, fully independent keg and cask lineup of the best breweries about
  • The Lamb (Holloway Road just up from Highbury and Islington Station) - class old pub, good drink lineup
  • Indiebeer (Holloway Road further north than the Lamb) - one of the best bottle shops in London, got a big selection of all sorts at a good price, plus 4 on draft
  • Mikkeller brewpub (Exmouth Market) - does what it says on the tin. Think they've got 20 lines and brew about half of them in the venue
  • Exmouth Arms (Exmouth Market) - next door to Mikkeller so if you're doing one you might as well do the other, got a pretty solid taplist and it's a great looking pub
  • House of Hammerton (Holloway Road) - just down from the Lamb, its the taproom for Hammerton Brewery, they love pastry stouts, their peanut butter one is great
  • The Fountain (Old Street) - just cracking taplist and great cask
  • Earl of Essex (Angel) - part of a chain of 4 pubs, up there with the best in London for their taplist, always got some excellent beers on

That looks tremendous. I'm not really familiar mate. We always stay in the Premier inn on what I presume is the main street, not far from station. Always get food in a restaurant up the street and off to the right. Might be called Smokehouse.

The premier inn on old street? If so, you’re dead near half of those mentioned.

Didn’t see that. Just nowt in the actual beer section. I mean, I don’t even drink pale ale, but sort of promised myself I’d give it a bash tomorrow, so feel cheated now
Strangely wasn't in the beer section when I was there either. A crate in the crisp aisle and another randomly further towards the middle of the place.
