Craft Beer

I’m anticipating my home drinking pulling right back from here on in. For instance, today, work day out. I might have a couple when I get in, I’ve got a couple of Guinness that’ll do the job. Not wasting my good ones if I’ve been on a session.

That will possibly be the story here on in. Tickets for Stone Valley & Kubix 26th & 3rd, lockdown lift permitting. That means drinking whatever’s available out of plastic glasses for the music, rather than enjoying 3/4 good ones in the house.

Also moving out for a few weeks while the house is worked on. Can’t be smashing in Impys sitting next to me mother in law on the settee watching Vera.
I think plenty will do the same. Down side is you'll be supping much worse stuff than you've become used to, depending on where you go.

It'll change for me slightly, but the lads as a group don't go on too many sessions, where I'd likely be in places where the best option is a Guinness. Mind a few more are getting into the better gear and are wanting a Fulwell micro mile night.

Will still stick in a midweek wander where I go to places doing craft on tap and selling cans and days/nights out with the missus tend to be Ouseburn, so again, plenty of good gear on offer.

I reckon most Friday nights will still be home supping.
Order most of my stuff online so tend to just buy things once. I don’t think I drink as much as a few on this thread so barely scratch the surface of what’s available with that approach. If I’m in a bar and they have something I’ve really liked before on draft then I’ll definitely get it.
Seems there's plenty like you marra tbf.

Went to the London Beer Factory Barrel Project taproom yesterday. If you're ever in London and enjoy mix ferm/sour beers, there isn't a better place in the city.

Went through everything barrel aged on the menu in thirds, then tucked away an impy stout to finish (Wonky Tonk - it was as thick as oil).

Highlight had to be the Dusk Blend #2, a 5.8% dark wild ale, and the Tokoloshe 7.3% Oud Bruin with hods of cherries, barreled in 2018. Class.

I'm away up to Hackney Brewery today in Walthamstow to drink through my bar tab I was rewarded with for investing in their crowdfunder.

Went there a couple of years ago. Really enjoyed it tbh. I’ve got Bermondsey lined up again for when I’m in the smoke in month or two.

enjoy Hackney

Cheers! First time in their new brewery since they opened a couple of weeks back.

It's class like. I'm not really that bothered about anything coming out of the clean side of LBF, it's fine but nothing special, however their wild side is brilliant. The Produce and Provenance series is so good.

Kernel and Cloudwater make the beer mile worth dealing with the groups of Essex knobs who are gradually taking it over on a weekend.

Fridge full of belters today
You’ll need to expand on that
Just been to the Funshack in Newcastle. Almasty is a couple of doors along. Would have been rude not to buy a couple of these

Love a bit of Almasty. I struggle to get away with pretty much anything Anarchy right next to them have done mind.

Anarchy are one of the breweries involved in this ongoing sexism/misogyny craft beer storm at the minute. Few people chucking out stories about how they've been treat badly. Owner of Wylam has been mentioned too with some alleged creep behaviour.

On less serious matters, I had a good time at Hackney yesterday. New brewery is still very basic and everything smells of drying paint, but it's got a lot of potential for the future once they've settled in. Huge list of beers on tap, at least 8 of theirs and another 8 or so from other places like Cloudwater, Pollys, Newbarns. Cracking set up. Nursing quite a severe headache today!

Need to do a site visit for work today (joys), but it does leave me within spitting distance of Solvay Society where I've got a 40 quid bar tab waiting for me. Would probably be rude not to pop in for a swift half...

Well, from memory, highlights include

Salty Nut Roll - 13% by Grimm - Imperial stout with peanuts, marshmallow, brown sugar and salt

Hoodblink - 8% by Mad Squirrel - White chocolate white stout

Goose Willis - 5.3% by Brew York - Gooseberry Gose

Key Lime Pie - 7.5% by Vault City - Key lime sour

Salty Nut Roll one of the best beers I’ve had in a long time, but I think it cost me about £12.50 and that was reduced from £16, so you’d expect it be amazing

Not seen anything about this. Not particularly liked any anarchy I've had

Was reading some of the stories on FB and Instagram about that behaviour. Sickening in any industry tbh.

Never heard of Salty Nut Roll. I’ll keep an eye out. Where’d you pick it up?

Didn’t realise Anarchy were there too? Would’ve don’t the same & popped in, but aye, the last beer I remember by them was a Brown Ale, in the pub opposite the Cluny. That shows you how long ago it was, pre-COVID, but I remember it being shite. Still would’ve popped in & picked up whatever dark they hard on offer like.

A friend who lives in the North East picked up at a place in Tynemouth called Nord.

The Ship. That's where I had their very average X Ray Eyes earlier. I'll probably avoid Anarchy going forward. Very ordinary.
