Craft Beer

How much do we reckon this’ll be from Tartarus?

“COCONUT ABADDON IS BACK!

Our 17% Coconut Russian Imperial Stout is back, it's chocolately and coconutty (?!) and some say it tastes like that famous chocolate bar that divides the nation 🍫🥥

Released tomorrow 9am on our website and to trade customers 🥳

Got to be a 10er.

£8.20. 10% off on their website. £8.00 delivery though which puts me off. No free delivery over a certain amount either.

I see Tiny Rebel are doing a straight forward Impy called Dooms Night. No adjuncts. 11.5%

Is the clamour for adjuncts fading? More & more seem to be looking for straight up gear which is getting harder to get

Over time I've discovered I don't really enjoy much above say 10% tops, and there's only a few adjuncts I particularly like. I'll give the TR one a go if I see it anywhere though.

Too many of the high ABV beers are a challenge. Brewers amping up the alcohol just to say "Look at this!" rather than to make it a better, more enjoyable, beer.

Get it right & I think high ABVs are great. The Omnipollo the other day was a delight. Get it wrong & it’s rank.

Mad how many of these brewery's are local. Bought loads of cans from one more than two in shields and they we're mostly local.

Is everywhere like this or is it just a NE thing?

North east is class now like for craft breweries, loads in the likes of Manchester and Leeds also, I reckon Manchester is the best but that's mainly as it has Cloudwater and Wander Beyond amongst others but them two are the pinnacle for me in this country.

Not even a North East thing really, more of a Newcastle/Tyneside thing. The scene has exploded over the last few years. Sunderland only has the one craft brewery, two if you stretch to North Pier but I'm not sure whether that's an actual brewery or a homebrewer(?), and one in Durham too (S43).

Bristol is another that keeps getting better every year. Left Handed Giant, Arbor, Lost and Grounded, Wiper and True, Moor, Fierce and Noble, Newtown Park. Even Verdant have opened up a taproom there now.

Would be great to see a few others pop up around Sunderland or Durham. Very underrepresented considering the population. The traditional styles brewed by the likes of Maxim are still popular, but I do wonder how long that'll hold out.

There's Devilstone in Durham I think as well but they seem quite small. Yet to try any of theirs.
