I tried to find the thread I started for CV help but couldnt find it.

Basically, what needs to be written in a covering letter?

Cheers lads and lasses.

"Hi

I'm writing to apply for/express interest in the post of 'XXXXXXXXXXX'.

I am an experienced 'xxxxxxx' with a demonstrable track record in 'xxxxxx'. I am seeking a new challenge working for a progressive organisation like 'xxxxxx' and I would be very grateful if you would take time to consider my skills and experience detailed in the enclosed CV.

I am a hardworking, enthusiastic, team player with a real passion for 'xxxxx' and I feel sure that if given the opportunity I would prove to be a real asset to your organisation.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my suitability further in person - please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any further details of my skills and background.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks
