County Durhams biggest ever fraud case

Shes was stealing from poor, local people in many cases who barely have two pennies to scratch their arse with. That’s what it’s got to do with it Brian.

You're not at all dramatising this.

Are all working class people in the NE poor? Or just those looking to book holidays?

There's a difference between being poor and not being able to afford writing off a theft.

Think when you get that greedy you just end up down a rabbit hole of lies and deceit. Probably thought she could pay a bit back to those who shouted the loudest and the rest would be put off if she told them she was dying of cancer, then it’d all blow over.

Scumbag.

Did she have a website or was she purely operating through FB?

Facebook I believe. Although she did have a ltd company at one point probably thinking she could shift her ill gotten gains onto that and not leave herself personally liable.

Very curious someone on here doesn’t think the fact she was often stealing off poor people (“who could easily write off the cost of a lost holiday”) was relevant.

I’ve known of a few travel agent scams over the years that were via fb. I don’t use it now but I’d be very wary of parting with any money for owt on there. The market place is rife with hoist as well.

And on your other point myself and my wife have decent jobs and I certainly couldn’t ‘easily’ write off the cost of a holiday. I got stung for a £120 deposit a couple of years ago when I cancelled a holiday myself prior to covid hitting and I still think about that even now !!

I’m assuming the £500k was someone she persuaded to invest in her ‘business’?

Why people think they will get away with stuff like this is beyond me. I worked with a bloke once who many years later was in the papers for stiffing his then employer, a charity, out of £250k by the simple expedient of giving donators his bank details instead of the charity’s. Went on holiday and he was rumbled straight away apparently

The woman is obviously a heartless crook but I think that the Pulson Affair of the late 1960's would take some beating for the "Country Durham's biggest ever fraud case" title. In was in fact the biggest ever fraud case in several Northern counties.

These scams often unravel once the scumabgs go on leave or holiday or maternity.
