Aye

Durhams most famous footballing son is a mag.

Who Bobby Charlton, the highest ever scoring Englishman or his World cup winning brother Jack Charlton?

Did not know either of them cared?

Might be of interest to someone . In 1989 I wrote a book about the history of football in Whitburn . Whitburn alone produced 44 professional footballers the last being Keith Waugh ( Peterborough etc ) . The number included several internationals and what would now be the equivalent of Premiere League players . Whitburn although now officially classed as Tyne Wear has always been part of County Durham which extended to the Law Top at South Shields .

I was born in Whitburn County Durham .

Afraid not mate, Sunderland is part of Tyne & Wear which came 5th, Gazza, Shearer etc helped you lads get in the top 10.

2 Points

1 - On my birth certificate it says Sunderland, County Durham.

2 - The city of Durham sits on the River Wear (Wearside)

Wearside is an area of North East England, centered on the continuous urban area formed by Sunderland, Seaham and other settlements by the River Wear

Eh?

I support SAFC and am from County Durham.

Your attempting to mock those of us from Wearside by saying more talent comes out of Durham, yet Durham has no team in the football league and all the players mentioned had to leave County Durham to make it.

As far as I'm concerned Co. Durham is the land between the Tyne and Tees. Political mapping is different but I prefer the geographical one.

I am not mocking anyone, I am merely pointing out that County Durham has won this particular battle, I am a Safc fan same as the rest on here but am proud of my county also.

We have done well to produce so many football players.

Also have one of the best cricket teams in the land from mostly local lads

Which river runs through Durham? Which river is Durham beside?

Durham is no doubt on the side of the Wear however Durham does not make up the whole of County Durham, Durham is merely the City which the County is named after.

I am afraid Sunderland is in Tyne and Wear along with Newcastle.

Indeed, canny list ain't it mate, nice to see our County win something for once despite not having a premiership side in it.

You cannot change anyone's place of birth. I was born in Jarrow, County Durham
You can't take that away from me cos some politician decided to re jig the borders

I am afraid where I come from if you said "I come from Jarrow" we would automatically presume you were a mag.

I'm afraid were you come from, I would presume you are Boro fan
For the record Jarrow has one of the better SAFC branches, the NUFC Jarrow branch is abso..... it doesn't have one

The words, "Read it and weep people of Wearside" would say otherwise.
