I'll play devil's advocate here. Why would any organisation want to redevelop the train station ? What's in it for anyone ? Sunderland is always poorly placed because it's not on the East Coast main line. I couldn't honestly see a massive upturn in users because the station is new and better than the current shambles it is.

It's embarrassing to look like in our current form, if we ever want to attract investment in our city imagine the first thing you see when getting off the train is our station in it's current form.

Lack of any facilities and it feels like something lost in the 70s
