Could we benefit from a resurgent scum?

Just seeing on Sunday Supplement that Rafa could get a £500m chest of war if/when Mike takes his money and runs. Painful as it is the scum could clearly be set for some exciting times again.

Point is, would we benefit if they did start challenging the top 6, getting European football? Would one resurgent NE team help wake up the football investing world of the potential of the other huge NE club (not S Shields). Of course there'd be the "we define you, forever in our shadow" shite, who cares though - they'd soon be telling us that Barca and Real are their true rivals anyway..

So £400 million to buy them and £500 million to spend then wages on top = well over a billion outlay = bullshit.

Was this £500 million not quoted on Sunday supppement though as opposed to the fans ?
Aye, it's on the back page of the one Sunday rags apparently. That figure is incidental to the point about them genuinely getting back in to the upper reaches, in a similar way as they did under Keegan. The game is so much more global than those days, I'd like to think there'd be an opportune investor that can spot a distressed asset and get the club on its feet again.

Let me guess the mags prefered media partner by any chance?

Firstly they'll have to be taken over by someone who want to achieve sporting success rather than use the club as a personal cash cow.

If that happens they'll have to spend really big on fees and wages just like Everton have been doing.

With transfer fees the way they are now it will take a hell of a lot of money just to get into the European places.

One things they have to their advantage is they have the greatest manager in history (who's never been relegated by the way)
